Frans Steyn for a start. Then Du Preez, then Spies. If we secure James at loose head, I can just about be happy!

Well, I'm fairly dispassionate about the appointment, but I'm certainly prepared to see how things develop under GG. While my biggest gripe about this season (apart from the defeats) has been the way we've played, this largely seems to be from failing to establish ourselves up front. Getting some fire and vigour into our forwards will hopefully give us a much better platform for us to play some attacking rugby.

I'm of the belief that although we probably lack 3-4 top class players, we certainly have enough talent within the squad to be in the play-offs.

Jonathan Joseph would also be a premier signing in my book.

Hands off!!

Just cause you are stealing all our coaches you can't have our players as well!

Spies is a joke. FAR more of a brainless gym monkey than Haskell. And far less effective. He may do ok at Premiership level I suppose but it would be another waste of money on a 'big name' signing. Gold wouldn't rate him anyway, no one in South Africa does.

If Booth is coming (which I doubt) then I imagine Davis will be off.

Gold, Booth, Hatley, Ford would sound about right.

Booth is definitely not coming. It's lazy journalism. We weren't priced out of the Booth move either.

Joseph was going to come if Catt had come. I'd imagine it may still happen when his contract is up at the end of next season.

Joseph would be some addition to our back line,Spies maybe a gym monkey but he would give us real go forward.

Spies hasn't recaptured the form that he showed pre Lions tour in 2009. There are better 8s out there.

The latest "Booth to Bath" rumour today on our board is from a source that is not usually wrong, so wonder if something has moved since the weekend.

Looked to me on Sat trying to read body language from a distance away that Toby was staying but maybe something has changed since then?

He'll therefore be hungry to do something cd - we had Grandad who'd done everything and achieved the square root of diddlysquat stuck in reverse!
I want to see hungry coaches that'll pass that "bone hunting" on to the players who'll either buy in or ship out!

I'm glad its out of the bag and decisions have been made.

We can now get on with any planned player recruitment and pre season.

Mr Gold is a forwards specialist - its what we need and he improved Newcastle over a short period.

I am optimistic of him doing well.

Im going to get behind the gold gang will be interested to see who else is going to work along side him.
Joesph would be a quality 13 but Irish wouldnt let him leave in a million years

Agree Ballsout but don't you think until we get a quality kicker,we will always lose tight games and not so tight ones.

Daily Mail:Booth set for Bath Move

Toby Booth will be included in a revamped coaching team at Bath headed by South African Gary Gold, which the West Country club are expected to announce on Tuesday.

While the appointment of Gold who has just finished an interim stint in charge of Newcastle as director of rugby at The Rec was reported last month by Sportsmail, the signing of Booth will complete a high-powered management team.

Cheers,

Rich

At the Fans forum NB publicly stated that Brad was integral to the future coaching structure at the club

I will take NB on face value as I am one of many who believe that Brad is a top notch LOYAL coach, who has had to paper over the cracks!

So is the best guess that it would be...

DoR - Gold
Head Coach - Booth
Forwards Coach - Hatley
Backs Coach - Davis
Defence Coach - Ford

My information is that Booth is weighing up an offer from another club as well as us. This has not come from a club source though. He wasn't mentioned to me in middle of last week so negotiations have stepped up a bit.

Yes, the same NB that gave Smee his contract extention - and we all know how that ended!

To add some context, NB said it was only fair to have staff that were going to be involved with Bath going forward at the Fans Forum, hence SIM and Haggy not being present. He seemed VERY clear Brad was part of the setup. If not, i don't see why Brad would have been there.

Brad will be the attack coack, it's what he's been doing this year, under the guise of a backs coach, as well as defence. Brining in Ford will lighten his load considerably. I'm sure under Smee he was also the skills coach as well. My guess he will be Back/Attack and Skills coach.
