SIM, what a tool
spud1610 27 April, 2012 21:52
Having jsut returned from a trip and a chat with a rather well informed source who bumped into one of the players in Bath who claimed that "SIM had lost the team at xmas" and that he had asked them to "play a conservative game" following three seasons of attacking rugby. Moreover said player also had been dragged before SIM for something beyond his control. Seems that SIM was more interested in a personal fiefdom than anything else.

.............. your point is?
Repeating kitchen gossip is so last year.

Re: SIM, what a tool
FairShout 27 April, 2012 22:05
SIM has moved on and its about time we moved on

I notice that you too are also only a recent recruit to this site. It would be great to believe that future contributions are going to be more challenging, insightful and fresh than regurgitating a subject that has caused enough strife for everyone. In the recent Wasps match report that I read on the Bath site, a young kid finished off his report by thanking all the departing coaches and players...lets follow suit and move on.

We all have well informed sources...but I never listen to a story that possibly has three sides to the story then repeat here on anywhere and then to conclude with an opinion about clap trap personal fifedoms.

BTW genuinely hope you had a good trip and also hope that the Bath player keeps his mouth shut as apart from a select few, not many have a lot to mouth about!

What SIM has achieved in the world of Rugby is more than most of us can ever claim to have achieved in our respective chosen field. He DID NOT work out for us, thats stating the obvious but its time to move on and there is a posting Re New Coach which is far more important to respond to

As I've said before their will be some to see the back of the two coaches and some that will think they got rid of the wrong one.we won't please all the squad.

Player in 'getting yelled at by coach' shocker.

OK.
If its not kitchen gossip, then name the player.

Re: SIM, what a tool
FairShout 27 April, 2012 22:21
Maybe a few more should have been shouted at!!!!

Common knowledge that BC read the riot out after a recent shocker at home...should we start that one all over again...not!

Wish I could have read the riot act after the game at Sixways !

No we can't all be pleased and two coaches have left and one in particular I am sad to see go as he is genuinely a great guy. So lets just wish ALL the departing coaches and of course players the very very best for their futures...now lets move on to the future folks

Its interesting to see how upset some people get when postings are balanced, fair, not abusive, not personal, blunt when needed yet straight forward and passionate.

Interesting that being correct is now being referred to as social conscience....oh is there anything wrong with that?

Lets see how many people turn up next Tuesday and fully reflect what they sa on ere and how they say it and give as they say it to the representatives from the club. Now that will be fun to see! What I say here is what I will say next Tuesday...lets see if everyone else follows suit

Weren't you banging on about how we shouldn't say what was on our mind to the players last week? About how twitterers should not say anything upsetting to our beloved heroes?

Don't have any problem with your passionate and views and welcome the positivity in an otherwise glum period for Bath rugby and Ere. It does feel a bit like you're on a moral crusade at times though.

Re: SIM, what a tool
FairShout 28 April, 2012 00:43
Yes last week I stepped into the debate on SV as it was becoming personal and abusive.

I have no comment Re Twitter as I have never used it

I take the recognition as of being on a moral campaign as a compliment. Why...what on earth is someone trying to achieve by stirring up trouble on a decent family man, who is LEAVING the club.

Why be abusive to a guy who made a mistake...yes it was daft but it was therefore a daft mistake. To read some of the abuse given to SV one would have thought he had committed a grotesque crime. In fact why we abusive at all. Can't we get our point across without being nasty.

We have debated SIM on ERE, on the coaches, in the stands and in the clubhouse. Why start all over again and then to include the discord between sim and players etc....Come on enough is enough...If that is what you call being on a moral campaign...thats your shout...Im for giving a FairShout!

BTW, where is Marshie - he is conspicuous by his absence?

Re: SIM, what a tool
FairShout 28 April, 2012 09:41
Yes the title sums it up as does the attitude of some.

If a prospective coach and his family did research on our club, players, facilities and then fan base and got round to seeing some of the abusive comments handed out to Bath coaches and players on ere etc....he might just think why bother. Would they want their wife, children and friends to read a constant trail of abuse from a a minority grouping...oh yes they dont have to read it but im sure that they or their friends often peek at what the fans are writing. In fact would we not want them to read what we have to say?

Because I WILL NOT JOIN in the style of posting of a minority...then I too am being labelled, criticised and thrown the odd piece of abuse...WOW and this from fellow BATH SUPPORTERS on a fans forum!

I have forthright views. I am well known for putting my money where my mouth is so to speak and challenging institutions etc. I will challenge what I think is wrong, nothing moral in that just sick of some of the abusive posts and comments of a MINORITY.

How many of those posting abuse will turn up at The Fans Forum and openly repeat what they write on here, in PUBLIC, so we see who you are and then you can have your say with us all listening and watching you have your say? I will be at the Fans Forum and I will have my say. If you have criticism of me, please come up to me, share a drink, talk to me one to one and lets get back to talking about the club

My family go to every away game. The fans we meet are generous, passionate, often hacked off with our season but we are all loyal to the club. We say what we think to each other, argue as to the best players, who played well, who had a shocker. We complain bitterly about the lack of support from the club in communicating and supporting us the fans and how we should be listened to as most of our complaints
are basic that would make a difference.

Easy attacking the club that we support from a keyboard. Why not really support the club and come along to the club bar, enjoy the atmosphere of a game of local rugby and show your support by being at THE CLUB ....certainly people there to listen to any views you might want to share

This season has been a major disappointment to me, partly because I expected more of SIM. That he has not wrought magic, or that he "lost" the dressing room is a further disappointment and a bit of a surprise, but I fail to see how it is worth personal abuse.

I am sure we are all passionate about our club or we would not bother to post, but we are onlookers (however involved and committed). The practitioners are the coaches and players - who do their job in a very public and unforgiving environment. They feel it deeply when they get it wrong - as Belly's recent revelations show.

Personal abuse in title threads does reputation of Bath supporters no favours.

I cant make tuesday either as Im working in London im dissapointed but due to my boss being a complete idiot I cannot make the evening
Although I live in High Wycombe now I still follow Bath Rugby and will always follow Bath Rugby it has been a dissapointing season but injuries havent been kind to us all season and some results could have gone our way e.g
defeat against sarries at home and away, defeat against sale at home, defeat against worcester away the list is endless
if some things had gone our way we'd have been like in the playoff zone im just as frustrated in High Wycombe as most of u guys are down the west country but I believe Bath will make the correct decisions and turn it around next season (even if they are taking a decade to announce what's what) The game last week against Wasps was brilliant even if we were tripe in the 1st half so I believe next season we will be better and things will go our way

The games this season, and most of last, we never seemed to have a 'Plan B' never mind a 'Plan C'.

If the scrum isn't performing well what do we need to do to minimise the impact? or
When we get the ball - what needs to change to avoid crabbing across the pitch until we eventually knock-on?

I feel this should be 80% coaching pre-match and 20% tweaking on the field as the game pans out - but we don't seem to be anywhere near being able to do this.

Resolving the above is my biggest hope for next season.

I agree too with Fairshout, the way this Forum and some Twitter attacks are going, the chances are the players and coaches won't want to speak to us at all in the future as they will feel a divide between themselves and the fans.

I'm sure those who vent their anger through the keyboard and show a lack of respect are in the minority but I bet it feels different if you're on the receiving end.

I don't want to see players arriving at and leaving games with head down, hoody up, headphones on and giving a 'don't talk to me' attitude, football bad-boy style.

It's a shame that since appearing on this forum, Fairshout seems to have been ridiculed by some for taking this view.

Personally I'm not happy at all with the coaching of the team and feel very disappointed, but personal abuse won't be part of my messages. You reap what you sow.

If you want to see fewer players in the bar, at United games on the terrace and avoiding fans conversations, carry on posting abuse.

If you want a return to a family feel about the place, don't grab your smart phone 2 minutes after a narrow defeat and perhaps post an angry, beer fuelled message you might regret.

If we are now so righteous that that isn't allowed along with any hint of criticism or dissatisfaction, however expressed, then it's a poor place we are in. This obsessive attempt by some to assassinate McGeechan's character is plain weird. Other than what is written on this board, I have never heard anything but praise and respect for the man, and that comes from players who have worked under him as opposed to very bitter and angry contributors to ERE.

Well I don't mind admitting it,I was not at the front of the queue with intelligence but I would never dream to insult the players like some do and I would back myself saying it to their face.
Some posters will one day regret slagging the team off like they do.Can you imagine how upsetting it must of been for Geech's daughter and Beechy to read what was said about their father and inlaw.
I have spoken to Charlie and his lovely wife while they have been shopping and they are both very humble people.
Next season we as supporters need to get behind the club and team.
Reading some of the posts as made me a little ashamed.

I did say 'If'...... I am not trying to stifle debate, just point out that the style and nature of the criticism could cause a reaction in how the players interact with us which would be counter productive. I thinks it's fair to say postings the day after defeat are less personal and more objective.

Bri...what a heartfelt, personal and sincere post

Like you I have seen Charlie's wife at home matches, away and with their very young toddler and baby at Captain's Training days.

I also have found them humble, real and happy to be at a rugby club like Bath. Mrs Beech is a rugby woman. Yes her father is SIM which means she has been raised on rugby since she was born. That also means she has seen no doubt the good the bad and the ugly within rugby...I hope that Bath for her will become "The Good"

I believe that with ball in hand, CB is dynamic and I for one would not fancy standing in his way! At Sixways he was a man on a mission, scored his first try for the club and was he happy...no because we lost in a shocking manner on a miserable Friday night...thats right he is a team player.

Regardless of the lack of success and impact that SIM has had at the club, I wish him well and hope that CB and Mrs CB will see this as an opportunity to not be associated with the DOR and shine as people and for CB on the pitch...
