Looks like we're going to defend our way over the try line, triffic.

No doubt they're building an extension at Farleigh as we speak to accommodate all these coaches!

Can't complain about being spread too thin in the future.

Here's hoping they'll instill a mixture of grit and flare into our squad.

Huxster 08 May, 2012 14:25
alibev you've not noticed that Fords defences aren't that good so we'll be scoring from restarts !!(Sm135)

Intrestingly the BBC sports news site have Brad as the Attack coach..

Re: Coaches for next season
Susanne 08 May, 2012 14:36
I am looking forward to watching this come together next season. I really hope they can integrate Brad into this and make the most of his talents - he's a top bloke and we'd be foolish to let someone of his abilities wander off to another Club.

Re: Coaches for next season
ligger 08 May, 2012 14:45
Maybe wrong, but don't think Brad is the sort of guy that would just accept a role so if he is attack coach must feel he can do something there, when that is his focus.

A new era. One that will receive my full support.

Re: Coaches for next season
BBWinDublin 08 May, 2012 15:00
Brad will be skills coach. An attack coach isn't the most important thing. If you have quick go forward ball and are well coached in the core skills you will score tries naturally. With Donald, Barkley, Bendy, Biggs, Louw etc in the side I'm sure once we start fronting up we will open up space and score points.

Re: Coaches for next season
ballsout 08 May, 2012 15:03
Did we really need yet another topic on this, nice way of splitting the discussion.

On topic, as a total guess It could be that Gold is only in for the short term, to lay the foundations, with Booth taking over next season. As I said, total guess.

Re: Coaches for next season
Bri 08 May, 2012 15:50
Brad is the attack coach.

I bet a few LI fans are dissapointed to see Hatley and Booth go!! was surprised by Booth but all in all all 5 men will get my 100% backing and I wish them good luck!

Though no mention of Ford and seem to have a Flatley rather than Hatley, makes me think maybe their article is wrong.

Yes, Zacdog, Steve Hatley played for Bath in the late 90s if my memory serves me right!

Re: Coaches for next season
grumpybear 08 May, 2012 17:10
Let's hope it is a winning combination, however, it does rather rub salt into the wound, we have just gone through a disasterous season with two and a bit coaches and now see the need to double that number. Why wasn't Meehan replaced straightaway?
Wish the new team all the best, they will have my support.

London Irish webiste says Booth, Bishop and Hatley are leaving.

Given two of them are coming here I suppose it is natural to assume the other one is. But I guess in that case why wasn't e named with the other two?

Should have given Smee a call - he knows what we want, just need some growl and thump - Smeeball makes me smile, and I've not done that for a while....

But Booth does like players like Mapusa and Elvis so there could be a new attacking rugby Bod, I suppose it is a case of wait for the friendlies.

Have you found the Black Rat?? I have!!

Well that sounds very positive, twice the number of coaches that we had. I think the Grauniad have got their wires crossed. Onwards and upwards I hope very much.

Bit of SMee bit of smash a bit of Maul and a lot of high tempo rucking.

I'm well happy with this!

Unlike what seems to be the majority on this board, I rate Booth and think he did well at Irish with some astute signings and the ability to bring the best out of Stowers, Mapasua, Tagi, Kennedy etc. Irish also had a rock solid set piece and this is integral to any good side.

Hatley is a great guy.....I met him at the FB7s and he's more than happy having a chat and a pint with you. The LI board seem genuinely gutted to be losing him. He knows what is required at the 'coal face' and he's done a great job at the Irish academy bringing through some real talent...hopefully he'll bring Corbisiero and the vastly underrated Max Lahiff with him!

I'm not going to mention the backs coaches as I dunno what they do! In my experience the backs don't do anything!! :-)

SR - any crew that can blow Glaws out of the water gets my support.
Maybe we need to take them all to one side and fill them all in on how the Sectarian divide works eh? Just to put them straight - don't want any "misunderstandings"!

They drop the ball don't they therefore they are essential to scrummaging as without them there would be fewer(Sm106) scrums !!

Re: Coaches for next season
FairShout 08 May, 2012 20:38
Couple of good posts correctly saying why 2.5 coaches this year and double to 5 next year...but its now next season Im absolutely thrilled about and I cant wait

On my walk home tonight I stood at the gates to the Rec, looked in and imagined Senor Gold and his coaches on the touchline, in the stand and us 28-0 up against Gloucester and that before half time

Im delighted that Brad is staying and as promised by NB, will be an integral part of the coaching set up ....and WOW what a set up. Im pleased that Marshie got it wrong on this rare occasion and Booth has joined the impressive Gold. Ford has a lot to prove and under this regime he has that opportunity to show us and the Rugby World how good a coach he is. Getting Hats might prove to be the greatest coup of the lot. His reputation amongst the Irish backroom and faithful is of a quality bloke who knows his rugby and knows and FORWARD PLAY.

NB/BC need to make sure that the coaches, players and fans understand the reporting structure. Already in various parts of the media, commentators are giving differing titles and roles to the coaches. Surely its best for the club to make it VERY CLEAR as to who does what

NB...no need to travel to Silverstone to view stands with covering...the sun shines on the righteous and with this lot weve got a real chance of making MASSIVE improvement next year...its not going to rain on our parade.

The bottom line is, this lot can make a difference, This lot can improve the skill sets of our players. This lot can deliver. This lot will not suffer fools gladly...and thats no bad thing

Welcome to our great club and our great traditions. I cant wait until the pre season friendlies against I think, London Welsh, Cardiff and Swansea....

Dabos / Bri

I hope I am not being an utter idiot but I am sure it was being discussed on the supporters coach on the way back from Leicester and that the clubs I mentioned for pre season friendlies was a done deal

I think that these are the proposed away games....but I could be wrong...

Agreed! Let's go get the triple next season then GG!

Can't recommend Cardiff (awful roundball stadium), never been to Swansea for the rugby. We do conservation work on Kew Palace, so a midweek fixture at Deer Park coincidence would be great.
