Our next match will be the last time Gary Gold visits the Rec as it seems he is off to coach the USA

Seems that we are taking on a team who are both in financial and managerial turmoil!

I'd like to see us not be our usual complacent selves after a good win, and keep the intensity and workrate up this weekend.

We’ve got a real habit of going into gimmes acting like we’ve won the game already only to lose miserably.

Leinster away in the ECC 2 seasons ago.
Scarlets away in the AWC.
Newcastle, Bristol, Wuss and Sale away in the premiership last season.

And finally very recently Newcastle at Home.

It’s more important to perform against the lower table sides than the top 4.

We certainly need to start better than we did in the first 20mins against Falcons.

Leinster away a gimme???
Scarlets away in the AW, a weakened team in a competition no one (except Exeter) cares about.

Losing away to the bottom 4 last season, fair enough.
Losing at home to bottom 6, inexcusable, but Newcastle unlikely to be bottom six this year.

I think we should just go into it like it is going to be another equally tough Aviva Premiership fixture. The league is proving more than anything that we cannot underestimate any fixture and on the day every team can beat the other given the performance is right.

Worcester will be getting desperate now for a win and they nearly had us at home last year and did beat us when we played them at their place. On that basis and how competitive the league is I would say we just need to ensure we get the 4 points let alone going for a bonus point win.

If we get the performance right that will come at the end of the day! Let's hope we put out a similar side to the Wasps game and keep up that high intensity as ballsout says!

2018-19 Jonathan Joseph

It was a dead rubber for Leinster, so they fielded a team of youngsters.

Scarlets was similar, we went there with our strongest team against a bunch of academy players.

I assume that this will be the last prem game that we have our home international players until December?

[It could actually mean that its the last time we see Faletau in a prem game until 23rd December!]

We should have them for Gloucester on 29/10/17; (and have the Welsh lot for the AWC v LIrish on 04/11/17)
Then we should be getting them back for Exeter in the Prem 02/12/17.

Remember that the Welsh don't have any EPS agreements with us; so they don't get their Prem based players for their extra tests (except GNorth IIRC)

I can understand that but our performances so far have been strange with several of our qualities & faults from last season being reversed this season. Our inability to keep hold of the ball rather than the strength of our defence may hurt us more against the likes of Worcester who probably have a good performance waiting to be released. On that basis I will probably be happy to settle for 4 points.

Warriors fan in peace...

I hope for everybody's sake we turn up and at least make a game of it on Saturday. I fear we may roll over against you lot though - If that is the case you could be on for 5 points before HT.

We also seem to have lost the ability to score tries this season, so if you fancy throwing us the odd intercept pass that would be great (although we'd probably still knock it on).

Crossing my fingers anyway that Gary Gold can pull a rabbit out of the hat - Either that or Roko accidentally tying his boots together!

If we don't take 5 points on Saturday then we're not good enough for top 4 - it really is as simple as that. So yes, the team should go out with the mindset of getting the game won within 50 minutes and wrapping up a bonus point by 70 mins. And why would we be thinking about anything else? We've beaten Sarries, Leics away, Wasps away. Wuss are bottom, shipping 30 points a game. Strongest team, please. Those points need banking.

Worcs did cause Sarries some problems and had periods of territory dominance so won't be a push over, 4pts and a win by 1pt will be enough to make me happy.

I think i'd like to see Burns start this one.

I'd hope to see us being more dynamic in attack with him. I reckon he'd take it to the line more and threaten breaks.

We're at home, against a team who haven't won a game yet, if we play with our usual 35% possession something is very wrong.

Are we expecting any back from injury this week? Garvey? Lahiff? Banahan?

Would quite like to see the same back row as last game as thought Zach and Underhill looks an exciting flank combination. Agree with above as would like to see Burns and Tapuai given starting berths after exploits off the bench. Would be deserved and keeps everyone on their toes to push for a starting place again as we head into champions cup games.

I agree with others above that we really need 5 points if we want to challenge for top 4/the title but I don't think we should expect it unless we score three tries in the first 10 minutes of course! You can just never be too sure what will happen when the bottom of the table team turn up and you feel like you're doing well - it is never as expected though!!

MESSAGES->author

I think Sam Underhill already had a decent shot. Haskell's form has been nothing to shout about this season; and Sam is the nearest like-for-like replacement available to eddie at 7.

Clifford was mroe likelyi being looked at as bench option, covering the whole of the backrow; his injury (atop BillyV and Ben Morgan's) makes it more likely that Sam Simmonds and Zach Mercer are in with a shot; if unlikely to actually make the bench.
