Starts at No.8 for SA at the weekend. First test start in that position. Interesting to see how he goes. It certainly increases options at Bath when Faletau is absent.

As long as he doesn't get injured I really don't care where he plays for SA.

agreed, just let him come back unhurt. Fingers crossed our back row options are looking pretty good during the AI period. How long does he have left on his playing contract as I would love him to stay on as a coach/mentor for our young tyros in the back row.

Not entirely sure you can coach what makes Flouw special - sure he can talk about technique (like lots of coaches can) but its a different matter putting your head in a position about to be filled by 20 stone men...and knowing when and when not to do it? He's one of the best players to have played for Bath IMHO.

Somewhat amazed that he is still being picked - but not because he ain't no good at what he does, but surely SA can produce younger versions? Or have they run out of options?

And as said, fgs try to come back home in one piece please! We need you to lift our spirits on a damp November day/evening!

They tried other options over the summer while Flouw we recovering, but then they got injured and Flouw was fit again...

They're also in desperate need of a bit of experience and quality both of which Louw possesses in abundance.

With Flouw out of position at 8
Mercer out of position at 6
Could we play Faletau at 9 ?

Well Wales played Mike Phillips at 9 for far too many matches! (Sm100)

You could say the same about Steffon Armitage and David Pocock but both of them have been deployed as an 8 in recent years and it has worked to good effect. You basically allow the 6 and 7 to make the hit freeing up the 8 - another scavenger in this model - to make the turnover!

Adopted players:
2018-19 Jonathan Joseph
2017-18 Shaun Knight
