This in no way overshadows the defensive performance by the team for the final 16 minutes or so yesterday. That goes a long way towards the healing process of the defensive debacle that was the end of the Newcastle game.

However for a rooky to come in at that point, with a man down and so many injuries, would have challenged most players to step up and perform.
Having been on the pitch only seconds he put in a most effective attacking tackle driving the player back a few metres and then stepped up for a 40 metre penalty kick with an apparent nerveless aplomb.

Well done the lad and looks to be a very astute signing.

Completely agree, as possibly one of the few people to have seen him play at Ebbw Vale I think he is a great signing, TBH he could also fill that hole at 1 as a second playmaker.

He is really a team guy and it doesn't worry me at all if he has to play 10 for us for a while.

Thanks for that Shiprecked , nice little insight ( Another Darren Edwards recruitment I wonder)

Don't forget the decent penalty touch finder from inside our own half. Thought he looked very assured for the short period he was on.

Agree with all of the above. Even when debutants play very well they can have a certain nervous erratic disposition, however Lewis looked as though he'd worn the shirt many times before. Look forward to seeing more from him!

Very generous, encouraged by that here is a little more. Could be Darren Edwards but I reckon Rhys Priestland may have had a word as JL was at Scarlets for a while, as a snippet JL also played and readily swapped places between 10/12 with a very decent player Dai Langdon. Ebbw Vale are coached by Nigel Davis who knows Darren Edwards. It's a pretty small community.

It seems that there are a number of hidden gems around who have fallen out of favour often following injuries & if we can unearth them it will pay dividends. Aled Brew is an excellent acquisition.

That last 17 mins by the 14 Bath men was pretty remarkable in itself.

Complete change of tactic. Protect the ball. Protect Josh Lewis. Stay in the Wuss half.

They did it so well that they gave Lewis a penalty opportunity (big up Lewis again) that took Bath more than 2 scores ahead and about sealed the game.

As third choice ten (as opposed to the likes of Hastings) I'm substantially more impressed with Lewis.

Too early to get carried away but he looked solid, seemed to take a knock late on. Though not sure he would have got on if Freddie had not been carded.

Definitely a top grading on Hastings.

Agreed dad - looked OK. Took that kick well. Solid hits.
Son of Hastings was never my favourite.

Looks like he’ll be starting on Sat with Kahn as backup 10 according to the Chron. Hopefully Kahn will be benched properly as a 10 rather than starting or bench 9.

Hope it goes well for Lewis, I'd rather Kahn starting at 9 though and aim to play Lewis for the full 80.
