Lahiff is obviously unavailable due to his "stripping" commitments elsewhere at a hen party??

What's that about Lahiff and his extra curricular activies?

Hope that link works. If not, it seems Pau are sending a fairly inexperienced team.

Forgetting Mr L, that is relatively young, inexperienced pack of forwards but with great backs.

Probably as important in our selection is that of Pau's, and whether they will bring a bunch of typically tough, robust 8 over to the Rec. In particular our second row is young but not without ability.

Who is the ref?

Did a quick and dirty check with the team used last week and most of the starting 15 were in the match day 23. So not that inexperienced. Usual question though as to which version turns up.

Sometimes I wonder whether we'd be better off playing against a first team, when they know it means nothing, or a set of second string players who really want to prove themselves.

We should expect to certainly win at home, but I don't think it's going to be as easy as some may think.

No - and might be limited on streams etc as the club isn't showing it on the big screen at the ground due to lack of cameras apparently.

Everyone thought it would be relatively easy over in Pau at then end of last year but it was anything but.

I wonder if enough of them will come to sing their very rousing "battle" song?

It's a shame IMO that we haven't seen all the top players that Pau have roll out. Would have liked to see Conrad Smith, Tom Taylor, Colin Slade and Watisoni Votu (Fijian 7's star) all come out to play!

Zach Mercer sure has some stamina and durability for a 19-year old.

French teams usually put out their strongest teams at home in the Top14.

Comparing to their home game Vs Montpellier on NYE, only one of the starting 15 is the same, Paddy Butler. Two on the bench started vs Montpellier.

So very much a 2nd XV

With all those youngsters on the pitch it looks as if this could be a basketball match.
Will Pau play with complete abandonment? I think so and we could/we should see a good game of running rugby - but beware Bath of "the nothing to lose" mentality of Pau.

If Bath don't win by at least 20 points we don't deserve to progress in the competition. Comparing the two announced sides, we are generally ahead in quality of player all over the field and if we don't get a big win, there is something wrong with our attitude and application.

C'mon you Bath, let it rip......

Oi, you lot, stop being so cautious. Our strongest team we can field at the moment vs their 2nd 15 at the Rec should be a massacre.
Maybe they won't be quite as compliant as Bristol to start with, but over the 80mins I expect just as big a margin.

BoB beat me to it by a few seconds.
He's bid 20, I've raised it to 35. Any more?

Skybet has us second favourites for the cup after ospreys.

BoB you make me chuckle - so a 19 point win after topping the group would be considered such a failure that we should just not bother?

Like tricky and BSJ say above, they are professional rugby players with something to prove and I don't think that they will roll over. I expect a solid win but I won't be expecting to smash them off the park (we didn't in the first leg either).

(Nice if we do though! COYcool smiley

Just need a win, 4 tries and no injuries, not really concerned about a romping score.

Bath can beat Ospreys at home or on neutral ground, up front is the key. Of course we have to get past Brive first!

So they were just as compliant as Bristol! 10 tries! 35 an underestimate.
