I see he is leaving, will there be any more released?

It's a real pity that the lad never got the chance to shine.
I'm sure he will be a credit to another club - as many who have left Bath have become.

IMO David will come good. He has been very unlucky with his injuries and just when he appears to have won through, he is now off. He has strength and is quick around the field plus has good footballing skills.

I wish you every success David and hope his departure doesn't come back to haunt Bath. I can think of at least one other squad back rower who I would rather see go than him!

Because he chose to spend so much time with L Irish!

I was excited by his signing, having seen him play for England U20s along with Billy V and Jack C. Unfortunately injuries and the considerable strength in depth that we have (when all fit) has limited his chances.

Did he get much game time at L. I.? I remember looking out for him but he was never playing.

I probably don't know what i'm talking about.

This, he's a good player; but has been unfortunate in the luck of the draw, and never had the chance to kick on.
I don't blame him at all for seeking pastures new, and wish him the best of luck; and I don't blame TB and TM at all for letting him - he's wasted picking up the odd appearance for United.

Of course, sod's law dictates that next year we'll have an injury crisis at 6/8 and people will be saying that we need at least 8 specialists for each of those, wondering why we let DS go.

Don't forget Sisi's career has been blighted by injury.

We had an injury crisis in the back row this year and he didn't get a look in. Sadly seems like he's just not been lucky with timing in his career.

Did Paul Grant get a new contact and I missed it? If it was between Sisi and him then I think that Grant has shown more. If both are off then we could well be a bit light during the internationals.

I'm surprised he hasn't been snapped up by another club, quite a few clubs in the premiership could do with more depth at 6/8

Wasn't Sisi one of the injured ones at that point? either way, it wasn't on the scale of a couple of years ago when we had 4 locks starting with another couple on the bench.

Yes, he was involved for a few games at the start of season until he fractured his shoulder (I think it was against Wuss).

EDIT: Yes it was against Worcester, where he was actually starting in the 7 shirt. [www.bathchronicle.co.uk]

A bigger loss than many will realise. He was class at the beginning of the season in our purple patch, forming a formidable partnership with Ewells around the park. Good luck to him

I agree with Danny - he will be a bigger loss than we can currently see. This season he has been overtaken by Ellis & Z Mercer, it is true- but that is partly to do with his early season injury hampering his chances at the time when we were actually playing good rugby and we were in need of his presence to cover for Faletau and Denton.

IMHO he could have been a real asset - alongside our other young guns in Ellis & Zach.

The reason he "spent too long at London Irish" was because there was no recall clause in his loan contract, which meant we could not get him back when a back row injury crisis struck.

He is too good for the Championship- I hope he gets snapped up by a Premiership club.

He started a grand total of 3 games for Irish last year. He clearly has/had potential, but let's not make him out to be something he's not.

Given relative chances say v Z Mercer clearly ZM has got 'it'. We can only conclude DS has not even accounting for injuries.

+1

I suspect the ratio of games played to weeks injured is very high and for that reason I think he should probably go - rather like Will Spencer, last year.
