Somerset: setting the benchmark for Girls Rugby
07 May, 2017 21:27
News from b(ey)o(n)d!

With Winscombe Under 18s and Under 15s girls rugby teams both crowned RFU National Champions recently, itís safe to say that Somerset is setting the benchmark for girls rugby in England.

The next step up for many of the girls will be with Bristol Ladies, who have equally been setting the standard at senior level in the RFU Womenís Premiership.

And while Bristol Ladies fell at the final hurdle in their Premiership Play Off Final against Aylesford Bulls, it has been a highly successful season overall, with Bristol finishing top of the regular season league table with 13 wins in 15 games and reaching the Grand Final with a 42-10 win over Saracens in the semi-final.

More information about Girls and Womenís rugby in the region is available from:

RFU Womenís Premiership
Bristol Ladies
Winscombe RFC
Bath Ladies

If anyone has more information about girls and womenís rugby locally, please do add more to this thread and let's encourage more girls to get involved.

In West Somerset Minehead Barbarians have a very active female section, gaining their first county honours at adult level recently. The young female players are inspired by their heroine Nolli Waterman who started at the club, and regularly returns to support the girls.
Sorry, but I've no idea how to do the link thing!
