Looks like the club are as interested as the fans.

Wow, so we are playing a single Bath player, isn't that a bit of a mockery?

With our squad we can hardly risk any of our important players.

Remind me again what is the point of this competition?

Are we forced to enter a team?

It's exactly as much respect as the competition deserves.

I'm not arguing I couldn't care less about it but it seems a bit silly.

Wasps are playing Wade, Oghre, M Watson, Armitage and Bassett in their sevens quad. Clearly we're not too fussed about it!

Shame not to put up a good show when they're wearing the BB&W.

I turn on to see a Quins player stretchered off. I think our approach, protecting our squad, is perhaps wise.

Looked like a really nasty knee injury, don't think he'll be playing for the rest of the year.

Presumably, and understandably, they don't want to risk injury to non-specialist players in this competition. But it is a bit puzzling as other Premiership clubs are making much more of it. Perhaps there isn't any money in it, does anyone sponsor the competition?

Other clubs wmanaged to field a team which actually represented the club they play for unless I am wrong we had London Scottish players, Army, RAF, University and Cinderford players - only Will Homer is officially a Bath Player. Allegedly we have a squad of nearly or just above 40 players!!! All earning a tremendous wage as we have apparently neatly reached our 7 million cap and yet we were unable to put out 10 players to represent our club.

Why enter a competition unless your there to compete and attempt to win it. On this point I agree with Mark McCall, Rob Bacter & Dai Young - Aiming to compete and win every competition you enter sets a winning mentality through the the squad, club and sends a message to your opponents.

It's only a pre season 7's competition, no point getting over emotional about losing.

I fail to see why we enter, is it mandatory?

Fully endorse the clubs approach to this competition

yep, we take part because it's part of the contract to play in the premiership.
Every year there are a couple of teams which want to win it, a couple who use it to get the academy some contact, and some who field a squad of ringers.

Given that it's about as relevant to the season as the cricket matches, I'd rather our squad concentrated n training for the season ahead.

I like 7s, but this is an utterly pointless waste or time.

I'm not really sure who it's good for, this tournament. Tigers, who we are currently playing, have a team comprised entirely from Loughborough Uni students. The stands are anything but full.

Not sure what the squads ir the sponsors are getting?

I don't know why we couldn't put a couple of our actual players out to get match sharp and practice their finishing! Wasps and Exeter both put out squads with either senior academy players or at least some of their youngsters. Wasps put out Robson, Wade, Josh Bassett, Lovobalavu and Marcus Watson for gods sake! We put out Bath uni students and ringers who were nothing to do with the club!

Maybe this attitude is where we falter as you start the year off with an attitude that we do not care or want to set a winning culture. Meanwhile Wasps win the tournament and start the season with their best finishers high in confidence and looking sharp.

There's no reason we could not have put out some of our actual youngsters or squad players.
Jeff Williams (I appreciate he was coaching), Jack Wilson, Aled Brew, Harry Davies, Rory Jennings, Will Homer and Josh Lewis could have gone and done us a job surely unless we are expecting any of them to be first XV starters for the new season? As a player surely they would prefer the gametime than a few United performances and to be a sub off the bench once a few injuries occur?

Also Gabriel Oghre looked very good for Wasps in amongst their star backs. Makes the decision to let him go look even worse now!

The upshot Big Dog is no injuries to the XV squad and a highlight in Levi Davis. The 7's tournament is a Contractual Obligation and Leicester didn't play any of their squad either. The popularity of 7's is growing but Bath Rugby has always been about the 15 man game.

Jeff Williams is injured and targeting a Sept/Oct return.

Not all the "ringers" were "nothing to do with the club". The two L Scottish lads have Bath connections -one studied here, the other, Joe Luca Smith grew up at Keynsham and went to school at Prior Park College.
