Springbok Squad

Louw hasn't been named in the squad but the coach has stated there may well be changes as the tournament continues.

At the very least he gets a longer pre-season and longer to get over surgery, at best we might have him for more of the season than we are used to.

This summer has already seen his first block of 6 weeks of not playing rugby whilst not being injured since signing for us. This announcement will give him his 2nd set.

Great news for us, good news for him, and absolutely essential if he holds any thoughts of RWC19; he must be knackered mentally and physically. This break has been too long in coming. He'll be like a new signing having had a rest and a preseason - with a bit of luck he'll also still be hungry to prove that he's still in contention for a place in November and in 2 years time.

Not sure whether that is particularly good news for Francois but it is certainly excellent news for us!

Whether he has been given the tournament off to mend up and ease his way back in or whether he has just been overlooked though remains to be seen. You'd have to think that if it the former given his class but you never know!

I'd be happy with him playing solely from us from a selfish point of view but for his career you'd hope he makes the next world cup and they do well... (they can lose to England in the final if they like!!)
