Who's been getting the game-time for Leeds between Homer and Green?
Is Green the SH who was looking promising during the JRWC? If so, then excellent news, whichever SH it was was about the first time in a good long while we've had a SH look anything other than a weak link at age-grade

At last, a centre!

ETA, or was that Randall?

In Yorkshire, I'd think.

Thatís correct Green played 10 times for England under 20ís winning England six nations player of the tournament, he was also university player of the year out of all British and Welsh universities , and then winning the World Cup with Jack Walker and Zach Mercer. Green had the starting spot with Carnegy, until heís move down to Bath for weeks ago, heís been starting and benching since then.

Lets hope Green is better than Will Homer who looked very useful in his few runouts.

The very effective first choice young England scrum half who played last season was young Harry Randall who is in the Gloucester Academy.

However I did see Max Wright play in the centre for England Under 20's versus France last year, and he looked a very sold performer, not the fastest, but can tackle and pass.

Re Harry Randall he is an exceptionally talented young man but he's not just small he's child-size. I seriously worry about him in the Premiership especially as he's got courage and heart too so doesn't shirk contact.

Think Tait getting rag-dolled by Henson and multiply it by ten.

I must have seen these guys play for England U20s, but for those that might have seen more recent game time, are they senior good prospects for a few years time or ready to step into premiership action right now?

Dcsh-I asked Alex Shaw this question near enough on Twitter yesterday evening (journalist who specialises in age-grade rugby specifically in UK but also world-wide too. His knowledge is very impressive I believe and he has highlighted many players as ones to watch a year or two before they begin making a break through). Apparently each possess good all round skill sets with no glaring weaknesses and he believes they could offer really solid squad competition from next season onwards.

With that comment in mind Andy Rock in the academy has clearly used his knowledge to our advantage and allowed Todd to bolster centre for the longer term (thankfully). Given the recent successes in the Carnegie academy hopefully we have secured two more success stories to add to Hill, Barrow, Walker etc

Seem like good prospects for the future, but does this mean we have given up on signing a centre for this season?

Yeah I agree with that too. Wright wont be on a huge salary but hopefully has some real potential to cover CT and that way any free money we do have coupled with that coming from departures at the end of the season may allow us to spend big on a prop/wing.....

Welcome max & max - may you become all we hope you will and be long serving members of this club and be loved by all the fans (although no doubt you will be rubbished by some at some point!)

Good signings from the sounds of it.

I am not really one for slagging off players but it is bad that I hope they give the scrum half immediate gametime ahead of Allinson....

Adopted players: 2017-18 Shaun Knight

I remember Wright from U20 RWC earlier this year. Straight running hard working 12. Looks good if not flashy.

Green played in the 16 U20 WC Final- speed of pass is quoted as one of his strengths, so your wish Big Dog is very understandable! Good work ethic too apparently.

Thanks, thatís pretty much what Iíd expect, but I guess any youngster is just one opportunity away from a big break through.

Speaking of signings, looks like quite a few from the French league will start to become available?

Posts like that always raise my hopes & then dash them. I donít know what I was thinking as weíre struggling to keep the players we have. We will eith have to soldier on with the gaps unfilled or develop our own players more effectively than has always been the case.

Wouldn't mind Spedding. Strange that he's off though, obviously for reasons other than the residency rule.

If their English FB fancied reneging on his new 2 year contract and heading back to Bath I wouldn't mind that either.

Sorry BH, didnít mean to be a tease! The trouble with those guys is presumably they are currently on top whack salaries...so off to Sale or Bristol then.

Shame the rules don't allow us to release players not offering value for money so we can compete for top quality signings.

Certainly not going down the route of naming players as that's pretty rude.

Think it still gets included in the salary cap if a player is paid off.

A] The rules do allow for that - we just have to find them alternative employment, or honour the existing contract.
B] It's a shame that the rules allow us to do that, I'd far rather the rules were that once a contract is signed, it should be honoured.

I do feel that it's a bit rich that the same person saying that we shouldn't take the @#$%& with contracts wants us to take the @#$%& with contracts.

I really do agree with point B of your comment, but recent events show that contracts are now relatively meaningless. Players leave if they want to.

Therefore given our situation with being unable to spend more to compete it would be better if players could be moved on if they don't figure in the coach's plan.

That's what I believe Todd and team are beginning to do. They now know our players strength and weaknesses and those that have taken their coaching on board and are willing and able to improve. Like change of management at a company, there will be casualties as the coaches jobs are on the line to get results their way. Welcome to the real world amf the sooner it happens IMV the better it will be.
