Green better than Allinson I'd say. Whole team constantly losing the ball in contact though. Very frustrating.

Less than two minutes into the second half he is already much much faster. I retract my previous comment, hope he continues in this fashion! COYB!

FFS Bath. Totally undone by offloading, almost incapable of doing it themselves. Being left behind in terms of attack style.

OK, well played the scrum and the pack. Bayliss and Mercer impressive. Burns good and competetitve. But good brief our attack is blunter than a squashed banana. Scrum or lineout ball from 9 direct to Banahan seemingly the only ploy.

Allinson not terrible.

Well we won playing pretty badly against a predominantly Academy Leicester side. I suppose we should be happy but if we had lost with the experience and greater strength and weight, we should be castigated.

Our attack is virtually non existent and as for offloading, the Tigers youngsters gave us a real lesson. Our ball retention was atrocious and passing was both laboured and looped. The lineout badly misfired at times and we were saved by our scrum. Again we were knocked off the ball by these youngsters and, particularly in the first half, lost out in the physical challenges. What is it with our forwards?

Personally I thought young Green showed some great touches and Auterac should both start on Saturday and be resigned very quickly. Bayliss showed up well at times but our inability to pass through the centres meant that the dangerous Davis never saw the ball once. Otherwise we were generally very poor indeed and thankfully a inconsistent Freddie dragged us to the win. By the way, don't believe George Ford could do what FB did tonight.

Not much to celebrate about tonight IMO.

To be fair I thought Allinson was actually pretty good when he came on. Green had a bit of a howler to be honest but he's young and he will learn - what this tournament is all about.

Not a classic by any means but ultimately job done. Good shift from Burns and Bayliss does look superb. Zach was razor sharp when he came on. For me they should both start next week at Irish. Shame we saw virtually nothing from Davis - he had no ball at all.

Big concern was the ease with which Tigers scored simple tries from offloads - they ran through the middle of us so many times. It wasn't as if our backline lacked experience!

On to the next one.

Funny how people watch the same match and see different things. Allinson for me was ponderous again. Green was...well..green, but showed a few interesting touches and has potential. Still Kahn and Cook out front with young W Homer 3rd for me (he is doing OK at Leeds so my Leeds supporting mate tells me).

Beergoggles, I have over the years given praise when it is earned, even in defeat. But do you honestly believe that performance of seasoned professionals against lads barely out of school with little if any top class experience warrants any sustained congratulation? If you do, you have very low levels of expectation and are very easily satisfied and probably why the club is still basically under achieving for the past 8 or so seasons.

That performance was just not good enough and Hooper coming on the tv interview and talking about us not doing what was talked about, and seemingly glossing over it as we had won, is also not good enough. Backsides need to be kicked and some of our players need to be told some home truths like buck up or ship out. Or we will continue to drift into a mid table underachieving side which frankly is an insult to the great Bath sides and those players wearing the shirt of yore.

I await the usual vitriol from the appeasers which dominate this board.

"Howler" was on reflection a little harsh but I thought his kicking in particular was sub-standard. For example it took him an awful long time to work out that his box kicks weren't being contested by our wingers yet he persisted in lumping them up there. Allinson was better than he normally was (a highly veiled compliment) but still is a country mile behind Cook and Kahn. That said I'd rather we persevere with Green more in the long term because I don't think Allinson has any more in his locker than we've already seen. Many of Green's passes were crisp. Hopefully W Homer can get a full season in for Yorks as we could use him back and firing next year.

I wasn’t at the game but from what has been said our attacking play was once again toothless. Comments were made during the week that the coaches are on top of things & further changes are unnecessary. However, there doesn't appear to be much evidence of this. Some will say that we can’t expect much from 2nd & 3rd string players. I think that is a weak excuse because both this week & last, though achieving narrow wins, our back play was 2nd best against similarly weakened teams. We will struggle to stay near the top of the AP unless this can be sorted out.

Bayliss looks like he could have a bright future. Fast for his size and a decent engine. Bodes well. Douglas showed some power and aggression too, which was good.
I'm not going to go overboard with Auterac's performance. Frankly, a man of his power and 1st team experience should have no problem rolling over kids. It's when he does it to other 1st team players a lá Genge that I'll be very impressed.

I'm with Scotsman, Allinson actually seemed to up the pace when we desperately needed it and seemed to offer far more control. Green clearly has talent but made a few mistakes this evening and some poor execution of kicks too.

Our guys did well to turn the game around, the greater game management experience showing in the last ten minutes. That being said it was somewhat alarming to see the ease with which an academy side cut through our defence on numerous occasions and the ease with which they attacked our line. The first half was entirely theirs and we were lucky to be as close on the scoreboard as we were. Many missed tackles, a lack of control on the majority of the game and a little too reliant on Freddie for moments of ingenuity overall for me. Delighted to get the win so I won't be too downhearted by tonight, especially as we have giving game time to returning 1st teams. Performance levels need to be considerably higher from now on though after some drab offerings recently and tonight.

Well done to the Tigers side that they put out tonight, they did themselves proud.

I watched via Bet365 tonight. Useful to be able to do so but the size of the screen was infuriatingly small!

I thought Max Green started brightly but his confidence wained and he started looking for support. Allinson seemed more self-assured and it showed in his game.

I won't go overboard about the result - both sides were a long way off first team (I won't even indulge in whose second team is better) and I dint think its representative of anything really.

I am just glad that Freddie, Tom Homer and hopefully Matt Garvey got some decent game tome.under their belt.

It still alarms me how few turnovers we effect...

I thought both 9s were ok, without showing that they should play at a higher level.

Green looked like he was recycling quickly but perhaps without to much thought. We were moving the ball a lot without going forward much. For Allinson I guess, unless done really well, one person's control is another's pondering.

I guess the difference is whist green might be happy finding his level against tiggers academy Allinson should not be.

I was at the game and also watched it at home afterwards. The Rec clock was the usual countdown above the big screen and Burns timing was bang on with it. The TV clock was a countup clock which was clearly wrong. Trouble is the commentators box is off to one side of the big screen so they couldn't see the countdown clock.

Re. The clock.

I wasn't disputing that Burns or the ref were correct with their timing. At the end of the first half the ref kicked the game off again after Burns try although the TV clock showed time was up. There was clearly a discrepancy in the cold light of day but it didn't do my dodgy ticker any good when it appeared he had jumped the gun.

Couldn't agree more Sid. Max showed immense promise given young and first run out for the club. Speed and focus for his delivery was very good indeed, some real zip in the pass and always inviting the player to run to it. A couple that were a little high and certainly he needs time working with Kahn on his box kicking but overall highly encouraging

And for me Freddie is a better, all round 10 that George F. Maybe GF is superior in the subtle delayed pass but there is so much more to Freddie's game that I like - really cannot have envisaged Freddie's try in George's kitbag. In that scenario GF would probably would have gone for the cross-field kick

I am glad others thought the same as me, as I was beginning to think I was getting a bit one eyed, but I have never heard such a biased commentary ever. Well I greatly enjoyed the game and the win whatever the negatives e.g. Banahan had a shocker, Burns needs a proper 12 e.g. Tapiai ....etc etc . I love coming to the rec as I have done for many years, I love watching Bath win and I look forward hugely to the next one when Bath lose. Maybe I'm a simpleton , maybe it has something to do with driving a round trip of 250 miles to every home match and to many away games as well. Some I suggest, should get out of their armchairs, put their hands in their pockets and genuinely support our great club in its wonderful location.
