No Flo/Underhill, but that's the best back line we've put out all season.

Resting Underhill. makes sense, but I would have liked to see Flouw and banana among the starters.

Surprised that Watson is being risked with the Toulon double header coming up. His knee was heavily strapped last week.

Brew over Banners is an interesting call. Guess Banners gives more versatility off the bench.

Is Flow being rested ?

Heart always say Bath, head says Exe are a better side than us at the moment. I'll take the draw, 27 points all.

Wow, that's two strong teams and benches. It'll come down to whoever hits top gear, could be us, but likely them shading it. However, I'm still hoping for a repeat of last year's sneak win.

It was 2 weeks ago that Watson last played. Perhaps that extra time will have allowed his injuries to improve!

Hmmm, not looking forward to it quite so much now. Could be long periods of defending following by an aimless hoof and then more defending.

We need to go to Sandy Park and play .... with the Ball !

..and yet our overall results haven't been that different (points for / against etc.). We have the 3rd meanest defence in the league so must be doing something right.

Exeter start 10 point favourites with the bookies which sounds about right considering their form over the last year at Sandy Park in particular - but on the day it's all to play for.

Would love a win but a LBP would be great if we can't get that W. Exeter really are going well at the minute and at Sandy Park it's a tough ask, but that being said we have stepped up to the challenges this season! COYB!

That is an interesting statement Ballsout, but, regrettably very true.

We must start like a train as Exe have been slow starters most of the season, and get a decent lead. We all know how Exe play for the full 80 minutes and are incredibly fit and mobile with plenty of support runners. They make a habit of coming from behind to win.

Certainly that Bath back line looks exceptional! Just hope they can remember how to play together, and, more importantly, we get some decent, fast, clean ball. As ever, this comes down to the pack and the front 5 in particular.

Exe have gone for a more mobile front row, with the heavier, slower guys on the bench. But with Sam Simmonds on the bench and Kvesic, they are looking much more mobile in the back row. Mercer is going to have to work his socks off to get parity and cannot be caught up in the heavy forwards' duties. In fact how he plays could be key to this game.

The other main point is our exit from our 22, which must be clean and quick, as we all know and have seen how deadly Exeter can be in the red zone and their mauling skills from 10-15 yards out.

It should be a cracker, with the excellent J P Doyle whistling, and come down to Bath's backs against their forwards. They have the momentum, confidence and home advantage which makes it even more difficult and I think will prove too much for us. But we should/could run them very close and I am expecting a score difference of under 10, hopefully with a LBP thrown in.

C'mon Bath, show me I am wrong and we can win against all odds as we did at Welford Road and Wasps.

Pleased with our overall squad selection and the start/finish combinations but worried about the back row options if an injury occurs between 6-8, looks like MVV for #7 back up and Exeter are strong there. As BoB says, we need to start fast, get ahead then defend for our lives in the final quarter with RP kicking the odd penalty to keep our noses in front. A great match up on paper and I am really looking forward to seeing the Bath backs play with some wit, width and invention. To close to call imho, would be delighted with a win but happy with a LBP and no injury setbacks...

And yet Exeter often put in strong 80 minute impressive performances, we stumble through games by the skin of our teeth and rarely impressive (individual bits of magic, apart).

This game definitely calls for a plan B, we can't afford to do the usual Plan A of kick it away then defend hoping the opposition make a mistake.

Agree with those comments above. Quins got some traction against them through hi-tempo attacking as Newcastle did against us (and us them for the middle part). Of course we could get humped doing that but I'm not sure we will win an arm wrestle down there...

Re: Team's Up

If we kick - sorry when we kick- we must kick very deep and chase and harrie and make first time tackles, or Exe will just run us off our feet returning the ball. If we kick to Woodburn's wing, watch out as he is probably the best leaper and catcher in the Prem. There resting Slade is a bonus, but they do have Nowell coming on who is a brilliant broken field runner, especially when the defence is tired and the game breaks up.

That is why we must start like a rocket and hopefully get two good tries early on, and then keep running and tackling. And hope.

Simmonds is also a danger and must be closely marked.

It is going to be tough but lets just hope we have our A game on from the start.

C'mon Bath. It is doable - like last year, and our record against them historically is as good as and better than most in the Premiership.

It looks like a team selected to actually take the game to the opposition.

Our normal ‘away’ game formula is to stifle the life out of our opponents then take the points on offer, but that may not be the way to play the Chiefs (even though they did that to Sarries last week!)

Normally we wouldn’t expect to win at the top of the table side, and I’d probably take a point, but with the pace in the backs and in the back row, I’m quietly confident!

Spreading the play across the field and taking the ball at pace. Intent and delivery like that, we're a killer outfit!

It does raise a valid point however, which is what has happened to Ollie Devoto on the International scene? I think that he was injured quite a bit but moving to Exe hasn't exactly cemented his place as an England regular?

Re: Team's Up

He got called to the bench during an injury crisis, never made it onto the pitch, and hasn't made a squad since. At the time, it was too early to actually play him, and he was rightly there for emergency use only.

Last season he established himself as Exeter's first choice IC, and he was probably sitting just behind Losowski but ahead of Burrell in the England pecking order, but missed Argentina, and this season due to injury.

Basically, the England midfield is pretty congested with Faz and JJ well established, Daly used to international level, Los and Slade being given game time wherever possible, and Many, Te'o and Devotion currently injured.
For my money, Ollie offers the best compromise between the direct running of Tuilagi/Te'o, and the distribution of Losowski/Slade, but not the specialisation of those 4, of the "test match animal"ness of Farrell.

Of course, there may also be something intangible about him that Eddie just doesn't like - if so I hope he's been told what to work on.
