The offy confirms the operation for Roko

“One player who is not available is Roko (Semesa Rokoduguni), who will be going in for surgery on a shoulder injury sustained against Exeter. It’s obviously a big loss, but we have the likes of Matt Banahan and Aled Brew among others, who can really cause the Toulon defence problems on Saturday.”

Solid side. Welcome back Henry Thomas, long long overdue.

I suspect Toulon will have too much for us in their back yard but hope for a much better performance than against Exe.

Is it going to be on telly anywhere?

If French TV, and unavailable in the UK - what are the mod teams view on streams?

Welcome back Henry, and nice to see Khan given a rest, I think we need to manage his game time better.
Grant at 7 though? Erm...

cheers. Wouldn't dream of it had I found it on sky (would have helped if I hadn't thought it was a Sunday match)

Strong team and bench. The onus is on JJ and Watson to give us some X-factor - they've been quiet in Bath shirts for a while, so hopefully, on the big stage they'll step up tomorrow.

A big vote of confidence for Cook. I'd imagine his big left boot has something to do with that. Last time we played at Stade Mayol he was absolutely superb.

Heavy pack, too. Like Grant at 7. Lahiff went well at Mayol last time out as well. Auterac, Thomas, Mercer and Ewels off the bench will strengthen us in the later stages.

Interesting! Exciting! I'd take a BP loss away and a narrow win at home... but who knows what to expect from us this season.

Allez Bath!

According to the Chron re Roko

"The 30-year-old is expected to be out for at least two months, which means he would miss the start of England’s Six Nations title defence in February."

More worried about the Bath games he'll miss. There's only a remote chance he would have played for England in the 6 Nations, unless those in front of him are injured.

Good team out given the injuries. Hope we give them hell and at least make it mighty difficult to get anything from us. If we play a more tactical game as per Scarlets away we may legitimately be able to feed off of their mistakes I think given they throw the ball around so liberally.

Shame neither Underhill nor Louw fit but can't be helped.

I agree especially given May, Nowell, Daly, Watson, Brown all likely to be fit for 6 Nations as it stands it is a bigger loss for us than England. Wish him a speedy recovering though!

Some decent combinations all over the pitch there, particularly like the fact we have two sets if good half backs that have been playing/training as a pair so we should go well. Maybe Banners has a chance to show he is worth more than a 2 year deal esp with Roco out or a while?

All reports suggest the Banahan ship has sailed I'm afraid. Still, I'll pray it turns out otherwise!

Spit it out. Has Banahan been tempted elsewhere?

Very sorry to hear about Roko - bet he is too! Is it subluxated or similar?

They're going for the subtle approach then.
Brave of them asking Ashton to be the last line of defence though.

Can't believe I'm typing this: Ashton has looked pretty good at 15. His tackling has improved unfortunately... mind you that doesn't take much doing given how bad it was.

Do players have opportunities for testimonial years any more? I can't recall the last one I heard of but I would have thought that would have gone some way to bridging the gap in salary offer for someone like Banners unless it is a major difference

Steenson's having one at Exeter, so if only we were more like Exeter.

It was reported that Banners had been offered 2 years with the second being a testimonial year. As we subsequently heard from the Q&A that still doesn’t get close to Glos ‘double your money’ over 3 years deal.

Interesting stuff to hear from Dan Biggar pre game. Says Toby and Rhys are really happy at Bath and have a lot of time for Todd. Nothing major but always good stuff to hear I believe, and might give some doubters of Mr Blackadder some food for thought.

Well, for Banners, his wife has just spent ages doing up their house and I guess they want to make the most of that...
