Great news that Flouw is available.

Very worrying about Sam Underhill - sounds like the kid needs to just have an extended break to get himself sorted. Not good at all.

More worrying IMV is the Attwood long term situation and the greatest current loss is Roko. We really do need his try scoring in the coming period of the season and sincerely hope he heals quickly.

Good news about Tapuai talking about wanting to stay.

A mixed bag from the comments above (rather than the Chronicle):-

Louw - excellent news
Underhill - not good at all, difficult to expect him to carry on playing in the same way if he is looking for more than a short career.
Tapuai - it seems the worst predictions shouldn’t come true but we needed to get our wage structure right
Attwood - I think we have to plan without him going forward
Faletau - this will make us 10/20% less effective for the rest of the season
Roko - likewise but for 6/8 weeks

Overall, more bad news than good. Once again squad members have to step up.

Squad members - specifically Grant and Brew - did step up in Toulon.

So good news there, if you want cheering up.

Wing and back row are two areas where we have strength in depth.

The loss of Falletau and Roko is significant, but will not make us 20-40% less effective.

Not sure I agree we have strength in depth on the wings.

With Brew and Banahan playing, we currently have ZERO wingers as back up. Wilson and Atkins are the only ones who can play there, without being specialists at it.

Gosh, we really miss Tom Homer in situations like this. With him at 15 and Watson to the wing we would be more than fine.

I'd say the team for the weekend will be

Obano / Dunn / Thomas / Stooke / Ewels / Garvey / Louw / Grant
Fotuali'i / Burns / Banahan / Tapuai / JJ / Brew / Watson
VV / Auterac / Lahiff / Phillips / Mercer / Cook / Priestland / Wilson

The absence of Faletau and Roko shouldn't make us less effective but they do add special qualities to the side and provide exceptional skill and play that others are not able to, and can make the difference between winning and losing.

Lets hope they both heal quickly and good luck to them with their treatments.

I know the injury updates come out on Tuesday but i wanted to share that i bumped into Dave Attwood this morning and he says his knee is fine but is recovering from a quad injury. Should be back fit in a couple of weeks. Great news. We miss him hugely in my opinion.

I hope he didn't atcually bump into him ! we need Dave back !

I think Roko has singlehandly won us 2-3 games this year...massive loss, Toby as well but at least we have Grant/Mercer. Mercer for me is awesome coaches seem to focus too much on his age and not what he actaully does on the field, i be starting him at 8 from now on.

Wilson played on the wing all his career, we've also got Harry Davis, Jeff Williams (should be available soon) and Levi Davis. We've 5 specialist senior wingers, 2 more in the academy and then 3 guys who could slot in, one of whom is a Lion's test winger.

Fullback is an area of concern; we only have Homer and Watson as specialists; Banners and Wilson have covered but it’s not really a position where anyone can fill in as Ashton has been demonstrating for Toulon.

There was me hoping the 2nd half of the season would mean a close to full strength team...

It feels like the next thing we will hear about is players suffering bizarre non rugby injuries - deep cuts from carving the turkey, fell off a ladder putting up decorations, stuck in the chimney attending a children's party...

Burns can cover fullback, as can Priestland I believe, if we are really struggling!

oh stop being sensible. Everyone knows it's a disaster unless we have at least 4 (preferably 6) first choice players in each position

Is "ever having a fully fit squad" a realistic target?

Week upon week it is a constant report of more injuries and set-backs to those already inflicted.

Ok then, so that Burns and Priestland at 15 (and sub) then. Grant can play 10 as well as 7 and 8. Banners both wings with Brew playing 12 and 13. This is going to be a walkover...

I hear Todd is pretty handy in the second row...

Sincerely hope the above report about Atters is true. We have missed him and his power and could be a huge help whilst we await the return of Faletau.

I have got everything crossed and send DA a message to get well ASAP, please.

Underhill still ‘really symptomatic’. No operation for TF.

Thats quite worrying, you really wonder how his career is going to pan out now. You take heart that Todd has had the same issue with Kieran Read and Richie McCaw at the start of their careers but the game is even more physical now than when they started. Not good.

Hopefully Faletau won’t be fit for the back end of the 6 Nations but just ready in time for us after they have finished.

What's the betting he has a game or two for Bath to get back into it for the 6N then gets injured with Wal for the rest of the season?

TF will obviously want to get fit for the 6N, just got to hope he doesn't rush back. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Gatland pick him before he has a chance to play for Bath again.

I like the way TB addresses injury issues. He seems to put player welfare top of his list and there appears no pressure to rush players back. I'm sure the players really appreciate his approach.

I agree 100%, he seems to walk the walk as well on player welfare, rather than just talking a good game
