Searing back line for wasps, really really good to have JJ back methinks. Would just love some ball retention, give us the platform to challenge their defensive frailties, without which we could become seriously tired of chasing their tails.

Their back line is really going to enjoy our aimless kicking game.

Hes hardly shined in a Bath jersey so far, personally I think he just needs some gametime from the bench.

If we play with our usual 30% possession against that backline we won't get close to winning.

I'm not filled with confidence looking at the respective teams. Having said that every time I'd put us as favourites we have lost, so maybe my lack of confidence is a positive.

Looking forward to seeing Eastmond back at the rec, he certainly has something to prove, which is worrying.

Miller

so Eastmond/Cipriani over Macken and Le Roux over Miller, but not exactly a terrible set.

Hasn't really had much of a chance to shine with RP's form, agree he needs to play more as a first choice pick rather than as a fill in for the 6N, if I were him I wouldn't be too pleased about the amount of game time.

He really shouldn't be feeling aggrieved.
He missed pre-season and the opening match with concussion, whilst Rhys proved that he was playing well, just as Freddie started looking like a starter, he picked up a ban.

He can start feeling that he deserves to be first choice the moment he starts playing better than his rival. Quality wise, there's not much between the two of them, though Rhys has more experience at the top level, so it comes down to form and game-plan. Rhys has been in better form all season, and his natural style seems better aligned to the territory based game-plan we're playing this year (and we are playing that game-plan, even if Todd claims that we aren't)

Like this one? Personally, in the games when an attacking 10 is needed, I would play him over RP.

He was concussed at the start of the season and has his ban but these days isn't even used as a sub? Is he really not worth even 25 mins against a tired opposition?

Bet he regrets moving to Bath now.

The only chance we have of winning tomorrow is to score at least 4 tries, which would have been far more likely with FB.

Define "these days" - baring in mind that he started last week, and has twice this season been on the bench without playing any part, and one of those was his first match for the club when he hadn't trained with us yet.
Incidentally, so far this season he's started 8 matches, benched for 6, and been unavailable for 3. He's racked up 680 minutes so far this season (compared to 670 for Rhys) - source = statbunker.
I prefer his natural style to Rhys's but he hasn't been playing as well, and he's still starting more than half of the matches he's been available for.

I don't think he feels aggrieved, I think he feels frustrated - he was probably playing the best rugby of his career at the end at Tigers. Unfortunately he got a concussion stand down, Rhys was playing very well and then when he got his chance he got insta-red carded and another ban. He's getting opportunities at least unlike, say, two/three years ago for Rhys. His interview on Flats and Shanks is excellent, open and honest, talks about how he always wants to start or at least come one, hates not playing. Not unhealthy, just competitive.

Will need full 23 to at top of their game plus the 16th player to be at top of their voice, can only think it will be an 80 + minute nail-biter

And again!!!
We score a great try and then mess the lineout up, concede a scrum penalty, concede territory and can't protect the battering ram on our try line.
Come on boys!

Unless you are a very very recent convert to the BBW, may I suggest wrong thread, Bertie old boy?

There's a half decent chance we could win this, albeit unlikely. It should not take away from a garbage approach in defence.

Ah well... close but no cigar. Plenty to work on. What a rip-roaring game though! 2 points that could be vital too.

Shameful basic errors. No committal to the ruck. Really disappointed in that performance tbh.

Oops sorry, got carried away! Great fightback Bath and to be honest I thought you'd score from that final lineout.

If weíd defended like we did in the final 20 in the first 20 it would have been a different game.

We totally got it wrong in the first half hour, completely awful, worst Iíve seen us play for ages (to coin a phrase). Terrible defence, useless in attack or even just in clearing our lines.

Getting two points after that is extraordinary.

Keep this up and Iíll be moving to dark side...

Listening to R5L sounds like Cipriani had a great game, didn't think we would win after they scored first in 2nd half. TB must be tearing his hair out and I await his post match comments. Does he need to use cr@p again?

I'm surprised he didn't smash the window when Chris Cook kicked the ball into the midfield with 7 minutes to go.

Why canít we compete at the breakdown? I watched one ruck where Matt Garvey got pushed backwards by Danny Cipriani. Surely there must be a mindset issue?

The tactics are just so odd. Let them have the ball and...well...whatís the next bit? Give it to Watson? Not sure what has happened to our scrum halves recently either. Needs to be a rethink imo.

The first 30 minutes was the worst Bath rugby Iíve seen in my 15+ years as an ST holder. Truly shocking.

Once weíd got back into it the most annoying thing is that despite Wasps scintillating offload game they were eminently beatable if we did the basics well, kept the ball and ran hard and straight through the middle of their marshmallow defence. Alas ....

Theyíll be more calls on ere for Todd to go and it becomes harder to argue against it if we persist with the game plan of continually box kicking possession away.

The first half hour was shameful, and yet entirely predictable. We offered absolutely nothing. Barely touched the ball (standard), and just got blasted backwards with wave after wave of patient, skilful Wasps play. There tries conceded and it was game over.

It's embarrassing how we can't string two phases together.

We seem to be continually adopting the same game plan if you can call it a plan. Nothing seems to get learnt from previous failures. Either these things arenít being coached or the players are not taking any notice so the coaches clearly donít have any influence. I donít expect us to win every match but neither do I expect us to concede 3 tries in 20 mins as we have done on a number of occasions this season. As someone else has suggested we seem to be going backwards. Itís bad enough for us but it must be infuriating for Bruce Craig. At the present time the only team I can say we are playing any better than is London Irish. Itís difficult to comprehend how we had 6 players in Eddieís training squad playing tonight.

Wow. Iím not sure I can ever remember 100% consensus on the fact that we were clueless and awful...not entirely sure where we go from here? How do we score without the ball? How do we win the ball when we donít compete in the rucks? How do we keep the ball when we donít catch it in the lineout, put in isolated runners and poorly execute the maul?

(Watching the Leinster Vs Exeter games the other week would be a start imo).

I struggled to find a positive but the scrum was great and Stooke was an animal, screaming at his teammates constantly.

Can someone give somebody positivity for this debacle please as I'm struggling to find a reason to keep going to the games.

What the hell is TB up to with this pointless kick and hope strategy.

Really can't see how we will be anywhere near top 6 come the end of the season.

Totally @#$%& off that I wasted the evening watching that rubbish.

Who exactly is Charlie Ewell? ( Iíd rather have 3 Elliot Stookes).
A. Probs thoroughly lovely chap and all but can you imagine him changing a game?

Cips was brilliant, Eddie?

Take players the quality of Roko, Faletau and Louwe out and it will make massive differences of course, but what really is the plan?

PECK

We lost to a team that are above us in the Prem.

Before the match most people expected this and would have settled for a losing BP. We also got a try BP.

At times we were dire but lost by 4 tries to 5. At times we were excellent (the pack). Zac Mercer is outstanding.

We are currently fifth and unlikely to be overtaken this w/e.

No need for the Mess Webley yet!

Just, we had beaten them away and now we were at home. The bookies had us by 2 points and we were nearly 20 down in as many minutes before the yellow card lifeline.

Nonsense! Especially if you told them that wasps would have 14 for 60 mins.

Itís the performance that has depressed and the thought that unless the game plan changes pretty drastically we will be watching more of the same the next match, and the match after etc.

+1 So we just say to ourselves they are better than us & we cannot expect to beat them on our own turf. Some of us had hoped for better than that this season but itís always the same.

I don't expect a team of Baths quality to lose at home.* The rest is straw clutching. We are playing well one game in three (if that) and unless there is some real sign of progress in our game plan and tactics then more and more people will start questioning precisely what TB is actually doing and whether it's worth persevering with.

Most people on here can see that our tactics aren't working why can't TB. It doesn't matter who is playing, it is the approach that we have that is all wrong. The best teams in the premiership and Europe treasure the ball. We, like Northampton are playing rugby from a different era when it was easier to turn the ball over and territory was key. That is not the case now. You won't win anything box kixking from the halfway line as it offers the other team a broken field to run into.

Luckily in the premiership I think Wasps and Exeter are far above the rest, and play in this way, and everyone else is much of a muchness. I think we do have the players to play a posession game, the players just need to be given the freedom to do so
