Quade Cooper was being mentioned earlier in the week on the 5 live pod and online. Youíve got to be a little disappointed to end up with Uncle Stephen even if I do still have a soft spot for him for the memories.

His length of the field run against Montpellier where he got to about 76 odd metres and then was blowing out his @#$%& and had a lie down always makes me chuckle. Flats scored the try from that recycled ball if remember correctly. His one and only Bath try?

He also used to kick the ball off the tee and it would make this noise that Iíve not heard the likes of before or since. Like if someone had leathered a joint of gammon with their barefoot. Iím guessing the noise was the sound of the tee as opposed to the ball getting a right feeding.

He's had a couple of good seasons back in NZ, not setting the place on fire, but talked of well.

He looked pretty good against the Lions in the summer, although he was playing at 12.

I donít know why but on seeing this thread title my mind immediately wandered onto a Leslie Nielsen line in Naked Gun.

Good luck to Donald, he must have been a better player than we ever saw, surely (another Leslie Nielsen line).

I have to admit BG I was going to call it Ďnice beaverí after that same scene...but I thought it was a bit childish (Sm98)

Definitely worth a look on YouTube just to see the way Nielsen delivers that line. Comic genius.

As I add this update the COML thread list reads Embarrassing Beaver.

Sounds like a Channel 4 documentary.

As much as I think Beaver is a good bloke and a hard to understand player...

...Sopoaga to Wasps is the far more interesting signing of an All Black.

Are Wasps losing Cipriani then do we think or are they bending the wage cap somehow to fit another star name into that backline?!

Either way Sopaga will be superb for them at AP level and Europe even though he's not established himself particularly as a top class international for the ABs - that said it is no shame being second place to Beauden Barrett...

Sopoanga and Brad Shields In, Cipriani, Haskell and Wade out. Still overall good business for Wasps, bath will probably sign some 30 year old ex Mitre 10 player from London Scottish

You have to hand it to the Wasps recruitment team, 2 incredible signings.

Cipriani presumably off to France for £££.

Haskell and Wade - where are they off to? Surprised they'd let Wade go in particular given he's a talent they've brought through the system since the High Wycombe days. Not to mention they are already letting Josh Bassett leave to Saints supposedly?

They, like Saracens, are in a different league to us as far as signings are concerned.

Sarries, Wasps, Exeter and ourselves all have different approaches to signing. They also all have different degrees of success. So far Wasps' approach seems to have bough them little, indeed they look like Sarries when "there was something special going on" and nothing special was going on.

Possibly true of Wasps, but all three are still much better than we are and do appear to have the capacity to recruit better and retain the players they want to.

One thing they do all have in common though is they have excellent coaches that have been there for some time.
