Edwards has been quiet for quite a while now. I prefer it like that. Italy might be looking for someone soon or maybe Georgia. Johnson's failure showed that you need some media skills to be the top dog and I am not sure he has it.

Conor O'Shea took over Italy last year - given there's been some improvement in Beneton and Zebre I reckon he's there for quite some time.

"Johnson's failure showed that you need some media skills to be the top dog"

Good one CB. I think Johnson's failure showed that, to be the top dog, you need to have actually coached before or have some ability as a coach, manager or selector. The more ability you have at your actual job, the less of a factor your media skills are.

You know what, I assumed he was talking about Scott Johnson. I'd actually forgotten that Martin Johnson was the England coach at one point.

.... and that he selected Ayoola Erinle as the answer at inside centre against the All Blacks???

He wasn't England coach, Johnson was Team Manager and should have stuck to the role that went the job title

I love that way the credibility descends through that sentence:

".... and that he selected Ayoola Erinle... as the answer at inside centre... against the All Blacks???"

Well Shaun Edwards would put an end to any messing around at least! Looks like he wants another international job though.

His name will be mentioned, when the England job comes up but his record against the SH is not up to it. I imagine Gatland will have the same problem, when the NZ job comes up.

And Matt Banahan at outside centre against Brian O'Driscoll...

How can you possibly compare what someone achieves with Wales against the SH, with what they might achieve with 10 times the money and players?

He's a proven winner, which none of our current or recent coaches can say.

In 10 years at Wasps, 4 Championships, 3 Heineken/AWs, 1 ECC.
I'd take him in a shot as head coach, not DoR though.

Optimist - I base this on how competitive Wales have been in the 6N since he has been around and how competitive they have been against the SH. A coach has to break this cycle and he hasn't done it. Of course he might be better with England but I see him as an Andy Robinson number 2 at international level.

I think Gustard is the man for the top job with Borthwick as number 2.

Neither Gustard nor Borthwick have done the top job even at a club. No ta.

Seems ironic with a cold snap in the weather to be mentioning Edwards.

Good point, SE might produce some good defensive performances but Wales went through quite a long spell where they conceded 4-5 tries a game.

Possibly before we get a new Head Coach we find a Strength & Conditioning person who firstly gets the squad fully fit and secondly keeps them fit and available to be picked.

That got me thinking... How about we water the pitch heavily overnight, let it freeze, cajole the ref to call the Sale game off, replay it when we've more of the squad available?

Sitting on a team coach scoffing pizzas would be purely optional.

That has occurred to me! It will be +5 deg C tomorrow unfortunately.

Could still do the pizza thing though, might slow them down a bit.

Thankfully TB looks like he will be with us next season - good news. Seems we will be getting a new attack coach who is French - no name as yet?

That's very good news on TB imo. Is this anything official or more grapevine info?

Think someone named the Frenchman when rumours about Delmas first occurred.

French papers have reported its Pierre Henry Broncan, head of recruitment and the defence coach for Toulouse, who will be joining Bath, apparently he's friends with Bruce Craig.

Although I think I saw someone say his role will be recruitment, not coaching.
