Wasn’t a great performance, far from it, but we beat a decent side with however many players missing. I thought we made so many stupid mistakes. Without singling them out... I thought Kahn and Tapuai were pretty terrible. But, somehow, we won. Faf de Klerk is some player.

Funny how things go - If Wilson misses the conversion , our season is on the slide, if not over. He nails the kick, we win, we get Homer, Banahan, Burns, Ellis etc back next week, and we’re on the up and in the fight for the top four.

Against a pretty much full strength (ish) sale that was gutsy by us to grab that win. Their defence was excellent especially compared to ours but to stay patient and keep going our boys deserve some great credit. Wilson was fantastic and kept his cool. Let's hope that win can give us confidence and kick us on.

Well we won, somehow. Very very grateful and that performance was woeful at times, the way we conceded those tries. At half time, I couldn't see us winning but we stuck at it and managed to get across the line. Well done.

Now we have to get some momentum from this result and if we don't give Mr Wilson a longer term contract we are barmy. He played very steadily at 10 and really kicked well off the tee which eventually won us the game. Well done James.

Hope Stooke is ok as he seemed to take a heavy knock.

Wow that really is the mealiest mouthed ‘well done’ build-up I have ever read. The last two words must have been typed through gritted teeth.

We won ‘somehow’ by scoring more points than the opposition.

So our performance was woeful but the performance of the team we just beat wasn’t? Yes our back line found it tough to defend against their sharp backs attack at times but are we surprised?

We dug deep and got the win through a try. If it was the other way around we would have heard all the stuff about lack of heart. Credit where credit is due.

I don't know you and having read some of your posts I like your positivity and optimism but I've also noticed a real habit of pouncing on posts by certain posters and taking them out of context. In that post Bob didn't say the performance was woeful, he said the performance was "woeful at times" which it was. That doesn't mean it wasn't great at times. While you might get irked by some posters, often justifiably, you undermine yourself by inventing things to pick on and it's pretty tiresome. Just stay positive and resist the urge to bite.

Great result. For those who said we stood no chance, you were wrong.

I was one who didn’t think we would win & after they cut through our defence for two early tries I was fairly convinced that we’d suffer a heavy defeat but our makeshift side & excellent makeshift fly half stuck to their task, didn’t let them get away & eventually deserved the win which makes up for the 1 point defeat to Newcastle . Though we lacked fluency in attack our attitude was tremendous. However I have to say that Kahn is looking terribly ponderous & was completely outplayed by his opposite number. Surely we will not fail to give Wilson a contract as he is a really useful utility back.

Massive kudos to Wilson. 4th choice 10 on a hiding to nothing and effectively wins an incredibly tight game with a 100% kicking performance and a solid fly half game. MOTM without doubt.

Fantastic to see Homer back, and looking lively. We’ve missed him more than we might think. Being able to have him at 15 and move Watson to the wing could be crucial with Banners and Rocco out.

Kahn has gone from hero to, well, slowcoach. We look so much better when trying to play at speed and for some reason he’s stopped playing that game. I don’t understand it.

OK can we put away the line about lacking team spirit now? A team which comes back to win in those circumstances clearly has it.

That backline today included a player signed from the championship one who couldn't get a game in the championship and one who wasn't playing at all. When the warmup includes a session clearly working on timing and communication between 9 and 10 from the breakdown it reinforces the challenge forJames Wilson.

Solomona is deadly from ten yards and stood Atkins up beautifully after umpteen phases. The second try was smart because they knew there was likely to be some confusion in the midfield defence. The third try was brilliant - De Klerk felt Khan overcommit and was GONE, pace, perfect kick. Other than that we were a match for their backs.

I would be interested to know what Beno was so upset about. He was obviously in trouble after a scrum on halfway and I was expecting a touchline HIA call before he went. Anyone hear or see anything?

Pleasing that we went through so many phased and managed to score at the end. Hopefully that will help build a winning belief in the team.

A really good performance from James Wilson, he showed the value of having good all round players in the squad, I’d be happy if he got a longer contract.

Flipping heck I don't know how we did it, but we did it.
As bad as last week in spells, but with a few sprinkles of promise here and there... Too many pens and cheap turnovers as per usual (how many knock-ons... FFS...).

James Wilson take a bow. What an emergency signing he has proven to be. Smooth, tidy and accurate - with a huge boot. Deserves an extension.

Kahn so slow, but maybe because we are so unsettled at fly-half, so he doesn't know if it is coming or going?

Does anyone know why Beno was so riled? Something really upset him before he came off. He was fuming.

Stuart you beg a very large question and one that must have occurred to lots (khan arrives super quick, now glacial). Coaching?

I can't help but think that what Kahn is doing is what he is being asked to do, as he has been doing it every week this season and yet he still gets picked.

It was a great result given the circumstances. We have to follow it up next week though otherwise t means nothing. Hopefully the backline will look a little less makeshift next week

Does anyone know if there are any highlights of the game scheduled or up already?
Channel 5 doesn't seem to be doing them this week. Cheers.

Set piece defence, what’s that?

Just glad we got the win but after last week’s performance I was after something a bit more convincing. A win is a win.

Does anyone know why Beno was so riled? Something really upset him before he came off. He was fuming.[/quote]

During the play before he was taken off he was wandering around behind the play as if looking for something, quite bizarre. I presumed he must have had a head injury?

Poor game but welcome result. Wilson 4th choice. If that is his normal out half play then he should be 2nd behind Rhys. I genuinely don’t think he did anything wrong today. Strong performance from Zach, Elliot and some flare from Vuna.

Faletau looked short of game time and had limited impact.

Although Wilson got motm, in honesty it should have been Faf de Clerc, he was totally on fire. The whole team revolves around his spark. Really impressive, and his super fast, ultra flat passes from the base were extremely good.

Faf did some pretty rubbish things too - and missed kicks that would've made the difference. An enigma

Very pleasant surprise that result. Just need Sarries to give Leicestere a good stuffing tomorrow and top 6 will start to look safe'ish. Today's result just adds to the mystery of our up and down form, and whether there are squad divisions.
