We could be in trouble with Paul Hull as TMO as he is no fan of Bath FC.

So what's he going to do then? TMO is simply looking at video pretty difficult to show bias, though not impossible I agree.

Come on SW, only BoB thinks refs show bias!

I do not think refs show bias but have questioned their competence on occasions, and, IMO more importantly, their empathy for the game and the players. Mr Carley is/has become a very competent but still pedantic, somewhat aloof referee, but because of his attitude, it spoils the game and you don't see much flow. His performance at Exeter v Sarries was a good example of his refereeing giving the game a stop start situation and it lacked much flow and tempo. Unless he loosens up a bit, he will never become a Nigel Owens, Tony Spreadbury, Ed Morrison, Derek Bevan or one of my favourites, Clive Norling. I think Wayne Barnes has got much better as has J P Doyle and I like the style of Luke Pearce and the very new guy, Christophe Ridley.

Regrettably, Mr Carling was schooled by Chris White who again never had the total trust or respect of the players I have spoken to.

Without a ref, we wouldn't have a game so we do need a flow of new ones to replace those deemed too old and of course it takes time for them to become totally efficient. Whilst learning, they might not be the best but we should allow them some slack for that and early rounds of this secondary AW Cup seems an obvious place for them to gain experience.

You would hope that Karl Dixon can get up to speed faster than most. Fascinated to see how he polices the breakdown, scrum and crooked feeds!

I also wonder if he would be allowed to ref Quins games? I know that they are seen to be neutral but he was with them for a very long time.

you're suggesting a Ref/official will show bias.
