June Internationals
16 May, 2018 23:54
Just seen Charteris has been withdrawn from Wales’ squad along with the other English based players as they are ineligible to play in all of the games. Prem Rugby playing hard ball. Amen.

Don’t know why Wales insist on having a game outside of the official window. There are three Saturdays they can use but they’re choosing to do it differently.

I am with PRL on this. Everyone knows that there are agreed slots for internationals and it is poor that these agreements are deliberately and knowing flouted.

4 reasons that I can think of.

A] £$€ - more matches = more money; especially when combined with the reciprocal agreements that want them touring as well as hosting.
B] To make a point to the players that they'll have a better international career if they stay in Wales.
C] To keep their clubs happy by making point B to the players.
D] Political point scoring and "blame the English" to motivate their fan base.

I'm sure that cool smiley is definitely going to make a difference to Adams of Worcester - can't see him hanging around too much longer and who could blame him when he is at the start of his international career.

A) Agree strongly
cool smiley Agree
c) Not all clubs want Welsh internationals exclusively
D) Not too sure on this one there is rivalry but specifically English??

The main reason is money though, these games are part of the the Welsh regions revenue stream though the SA involvement in Pro 14 seems to be working.

It’s not more matches though - the window allows for three, they are playing three, just not entirely within the window. Get your points though.
