Both were warming up at the weekend I think? LC was all taped up in case there were any injuries in the warm-up I think.

Perhaps we ought to get an Exeter grobag and spread it at Farleigh?

Certainly 9 is one area where we have struggled with growing our own the last few years. W Homer and before that Cook (now 27)?

If Homer & Hastings had been at Exeter they’d probably still be there & thriving. We seem to mostly look to recruit rather than develop - more so than Exeter anyway. Hastings looked very promising to me & I don’t see why you need to play in Scotland to play internationally or is that their current ruling?

Hastings was 3rd or 4th choice, so wouldn't have got much game time except for A Team games, injuries not withstanding. So to get noticed, needed to be where the coaches were going to be most frequently - watching either Glasgow or Edinburgh. Not sure how much actual promise he showed with us but I guess that's a subjective thing as an on looker from the sides

Hastings was basically baby-sat by the Bath Academy in between Millfield and inevitably going back to Scotland. Rather than being annoyed that we didn't keep him, we should be annoyed that time and resource in Bath's Academy was wasted on someone who was never going to stay at Bath. The current situation, with Beechen Cliff as the feeder, is a huge improvement on the days when Danny would ring Shep, and ask who he wanted to send up.

I was in Chippenham the other day at the Developing Player Programme with BathMatt Jnr. The set-up with Ryan Davis etc. is impressive. They have hundreds of kids either directly involved or being watched in every year group on the Academy Pathway, from U13s through to the Beechen Cliff AASE and beyond. It definitely bodes well for the future.
