The BPT raised the height concerns last time as well. There maybe compromise in reducing the heights by getting rid of the car park. As the stadium is set further east than the current footprint I would have thought that views from Sydney Buildings and Darlington street are not compromised and vice versa from Grand Parade. I think the gap between the North and West stand is being maintained to assist the views.

The objection is couched in language that tells me yep it looks good but we have to make a point.

The argument was that the pitch needed to rise to provide flood water storage and provide a sports surface that would be useable year round for more sports because it wouldn’t flood.
So, ok let’s raise it by 4.7m then we can have a car park too (£ yippee revenue).
What is not clear is whether it needs to rise all of those 4.7m for flood prevention reasons or whether it is artificially high in order also provide a car park (£ revenue).

4.7m seems very high for a car park

Not really, you would need to allow for the depth of the supporting beams, services, drainage, foundations and reinforced concrete floor. So probably about right.
