Easy early 3 points for Wales. Italy throwing it around a bit, but surely there will only be one winner.

So bored of refs not calling on forward passes, but rolling back multiple phases. What happens if you roll back from ‘red’ time so that the offence took place within the 80 minutes. Should the game restart there? Italy could have felt aggrieved if they were within one score at that point.

I think they have confused themselves now, who is first choice 10, forced changes at 9. If AWJ gets injured who fills in. Not scoring tries, (unless the opposition are giving them away!), dropping bonus points and conceding tries in defence.

As long as England don't fall apart we should win. If we don't my life will be sheer hell for 2 weeks.

If we're finding problems, right wing still a problem. I reckon Watson, May and that kicking game would have been 50+.

Effective but I'm still not sure we could break down an organised team who doesn't make mistakes.

Daly a problem at 15. Not secure under high ball or as last line of defence.

But, hey, that's nitpicking. Good performance built off dominant physicality of the forwards. Made France pay for their mistakes. Very different team with the Vunipola brothers.

On the plus side - focusing on the business end of the match - some of the handling, Jamie G, in particular, was at NZ level. Skill levels gave definitely gone up a notch.

Agree with that Opti, Sinkler standing in at 9 and laughed at his patronising whack on the scrum cap, should have pulled it off. (But that would have defo been a card).

49 kicks out of hand by England!
France were well over 35 too.

Cue Dan Biggar in Cardiff with Williams, Anscombe and Adams in the back 3. Don't expect a running game!

Thought penalty try was a bit weird. Think the knock on wasn't from Faz (and therefore a try) and Sinclair was a lucky boy but I don't think he was giving a patronising pat - he looked as if he was trying to remove the guy's scrumcap which suggests he was provoked before we saw the video footage. I'd have loved to have heard what Faz said to him on the way back to the game!!

Everything went England's way today and credit to them for creating the pressure and chasing the kicks so well.

I think the yellow/PT was a bit harsh, maybe technically correct in slow motion but did Nigel's famous empathy desert him there? He was puffing and blowing a lot too through the game, maybe needs some time at Eddie's training camps to get into shape.

The clock seems to get stopped a lot more after we hit 75 minutes. Is this in the laws of the game?

I thought Manu was shown up a bit in this game. He appears to have lost his gas and that push to Ashton was pretty poor. If this was a Lions warm up, then he wouldn't make the test team. Will they go with Teo or could they get the same power by playing Slade and JJ with big Joe doing the carrying from the wing? It is time to stick on a starting selection but things can be tried from the bench.

I’m still struggling with reconciling how to acknowledge that a 44-8 win over France is the stuff of fantasy, whilst feeling bored and irritated with the entire second half. It’s often the case with games that are dead by half time tend to become a bit bloodless - but from 25 points up we ‘scored’ 2 tries, both of which should have been disallowed. The ‘tactical discipline’ that saw George Ford come on for 15 minutes and kick as if we were 6 points ahead in a WC semi-final, just made me want to weep. I turned down a ticket for the match - was it an ‘I was there’ day? First-half yes. Second half, good decision.

I agree Manu is not up to full pace, however, the pass to Ashton wasn't the best but it was improvised and it was a pass, Ashton could have taken it or better still could have be on a more supportive line. TBH I thought CA was off his game. Joe C would have been better out there but it was a team to win a game.

I think we need all those options at centre cb2, both Manu and Teo are injury prone and we need variety for when it doesn't click. I was a bit disappointed that Manu and Slade didn't swap positions.

Might France be better off having an eye on 2023 and ditching the old guard now?

It's funny, isn't it? If you'd have asked me at the start of the tournament would I take 44-8 against France, I'd have bitten your arm off.

After the drubbing in Dublin, I think the weight of expectation on England has increased and I felt a little flat after the second half. Shame big Joe wasn't in the squad - would have been great seeing him running against a tired French side.

There were actually more than enough moments for a highlights package for it to look like a really fantastic game of rugby.

But even Nigel Owens was so non-plussed by the fact that an England v France 6Ns game that should have been a real knife-edge second half was so dead that the 'big' decisions' actually had no real import. I honestly think he lost his 'edge' in the same way the players did. Neither of England's second half tries should have been given. Sinckler was a stone-cold yellow, and even Nigel's rugby-values schtick felt a bit bland.

How many times will you see a French hooker smiling because there had long since ceased to be any point in getting in a tizz about anything?

Possible, but stone cold...I'm not sure about that, not a punch, no danger of concussion, not near the eyes. I've seen pushes to the body with more risk of injury. Stupid definitely but it is a game of rugby.

England were poor second half, but what were they supposed to do? The bigger game is in 2 weeks why risk injury, England have lost Itoje and possibly Mako. Isn't this a dry run for the RWC, do just enough to get to the next stage without losing players through injury or suspension.

Let's hope Sinkler got a shock to negate future stupidity.

We had a bonus point by half time. In some ways I was very pleased we didn't let them back into it, that was a fair achievement. We must have been beginning to think ahead to Wales. That the game became ditch water under those circumstances is pretty much par for the course.

They should do, however unless they get rid of the coaching set up now they won’t.

They are leaving post World Cup so would imagine they are going to stick with who they know plus a few and hope, rather than build for the future.

The new coaching team have a hell of a job to transform that after yesterday’s performance.
