When I lived in Barnstaple I attended the RAF Chivenor air-shows. One year, a Vulcan 'attended' on a fly past display - they were still in service then. The runway was too short for it to land so we were presented with a 'tip and run'. Throttled back for the landing approach and let rip once the wheels had touched the tarmac - awesome noise!
As it flew off, Concorde was spied in the distance. Eight Olympus engines, in two wonderfully different pieces of machinery, in the same sight line.
Never to be seen again.
