Gareth, please be prepared if you are coming.
The roads are chaos and delays of 4 hours are reported from East Cowes and Fishborne ferries through Wooton to the site.
Ferries are full and having to stand off in mid channel, as there is no room to decant cars at Fishbourne. Its a force 7 gusting to 8/ just off 9.
These gusts closed the big top for safety concerns last night.
The site was ill prepared yesterday with no matting to get cars and campers into the parking spaces, they became stuck and led to the traffic chaos.
Despite a licence for 20,000 more people this year, the site is , I am told no bigger, and certainly Island roads are a fixed entity and unexpandable. Thus, it is local accredited opinion that it is the greed of the organisers and lack of preparation that has led to this chaos. The council and police I am told are becoming embroiled. Local opinion is turning against the event.
Saying that my eldest daughter is going and I hope she has a marvellous time.
If your coming from the mainland, I would suggest coming as a foot passenger on either the hover or the fast cat, and organising a taxi to take you round the back and drop you off on Staplers hill, where its a short cut through to the entrance.
Sorry just learned that areas of the site are deep impenetrable mud, no/few preparations were made............good luck, hope this may help someone.
