JP

Considering the lather most people got themselves wound into at the prospect of tickets for the ERC final at kingsolhme going to Gloucester fans , to avoid hypocrisy I would hope not many!

Personally I wouldn't want to deprive a Saracens fan (for example) of a ticket if I had no real interest in the teams playing, as I would be LIVID if it happened to me.

Why Sixways? 55,000 were at Twickenham last year.

Really easy to get to.

Decent number of parking slots.

12200 capacity

More than enough bars and food outlets

A coup for the club and a pointer to what we could have when the North and West stands are completed.

Hopefully we get the lions share of the ticket revenue, like gloucester did when played bath at Kingsholm in the challenge. I heard the club barely covered its costs that day.

Sorry, but this is a ridiculous decision. No disrespect to Sixways but last year there were 55,000 at the final!

If Glos and Saints were both in the final, for example, they could easily sell the entire ground capacity each.

What a stupid idea. This is a major cup final that has always garnered attendances of over 40,000.

Why do they continue with this sham of a competition if this is what they think of it?

And I agree with TVM, why would local supporters take up seats that fans of the finalists may want?

Tickets should be a hot commodity. I'd imaging that for instance Blues and Saracens season ticket holders alone are near 12k? Particularly since their ill-fated half-season ticket promotion.

Would be nice if we make it to the final to not have to travel too far but, no disrespect, I think it really will be too small! Glad I have got my ticket for semi already it might be needed, along with my season ticket, in order to get a ticket for the final if they are limited!!

Lets hope we can do the business on 14th March!

Okay guys, I hope you really enjoyed your trips to Wembley as we might have a big favour to call in. I mean, which of the four semi-finalists has brought the most into WRFC's coffers this year?

If you give us the better seats we might even leave our song at home...

I am delighted for our club and city to be staging such an event, but surely it should be at showpiece stadium like Twickenham, The Millennium or even Wembley where you can stand up for the "home" team! I could understand the British Isles cup,or whatever it is called being staged here, but as mentioned demand for tickets will far exceed supply, and if the is the fixture is subsequently taken away from Sixways it will look bad.

Maybe we're installing 30,000 more seats before March? Anyone thought of that?

Great for the club to be considered, very pleased for them in that regard. Shame reality had to creep in, but it's us for the moment at least.

Ok just to look at it another way. What has been the average gate for these games per team ? not many I presume.

Well how many will all of a sudden be interested in this 'tinpot cup' when they get to the final ?

Well done all at sixways and whoever gets to the final will have a great day out.

DnT, you're correct that the group stages were not well attended (Sarries only got 6,600 and 6,000 in our two home games). But its only fair to assume more interest in a final!

Think you will find that the Saints home games were well over 10K
the official line for tickets is that Season ticket holders who have semi tickets, then season ticket holders then associate members then General public. Certainly at Saints we have more season tickets than 6K think it is about 8K. Thus I doubt if there will be any tickets available for Wus supporters.

One of the most ineptly created and attended competitions in the history of Rugby, will suddenly get 80k attending on the day! If the baove is true, then obviously Sixways will not be fit for purpose.

That said

*****Cue broken record*******

Perhaps we're not the only club with a sizeable silent and invisible support base that turns up for the big time matches after all

Knowing this most complex of competitions, the two teams reaching the final will probably not be eligible to actually win the trophy anyway.

The previous finals at Twickers have included fans from about 8 other teams, as all the EDF junior competitions also had their finals on the same day.

Have to say that I was still surprised at the news, though, as I would have thought that any combo of the 4 teams could have made a good fist of filling somewhere like the Ricoh or Welford Road.

Whatever you do, do it safely!

There is a theory that the reason the venue for final not somewhere with a greater capacity, is that the group games are not well enough attended.

The average gate for the group games is 7730 (Yes I am a sad so and so and worked it out!) So you would think that the venue should have been able to fit in at least twice that!

Highest attendance was at Tigers at - 19772
Lowest was at Leeds - 1781.

Attendances from Statbunker

I guess some of the moans will be the consequence of only really wanting to get a ticket for a game when it seems to matter more, rather than sticking with a team all season...probably another broken record for me, and yes the weather has been fair of late for some supporters(Sm163)

Fixed the typo (Sm147)

It would appear that attendences don't warrant a large venue for the final, such as Twickers or the Millenium. Welford Rd would have done tho.

But well done to Wuss for getting it and hope all enjoy the day.

well if you want them you get tickets on the Saints site as they are on general sale - so they have not been able to sell out to their ST/Debenture holders

Of that 8,378, around 4000-5000 were Glaws fans, so we'll see if there are enough. Our allocation is 4000, and we have 6000-7000 ST Holders, so the outcome of the ballot to see who gets tickets will signal if there are enough.

We know. Not greedy or anything but needs must. Nice of Saints to let us have some of their allocation.

Worcester is a nice ground these days. OK so not everybody is going to see it as it will be a sell out. Probably just a thousand or so Glos supporters than Saints fans. Should be a great day. I won't forget to wipe my feet(Sm128)

By the way. Saints allocation now gone.

Perhaps those that can't make the game or don't want to travel could watch the game on a big screen back at the clubs in a corporate lounge to feel part of the experience(Sm163)

Will the club be able to get the one off T- Shirts printed in enough club colours and sizes for the finalists to mark the occasion?

Welll done for getting the gig Warriors senior team...now the difficult bit of running the final smoothly to lessen future objections to use of our facilities, for bigger games.

From what I have heard fans of both finalists have been left frustrasted by not being able to get through to their respective club's ticket lines by Thursday's deadline and now approximately 1,500 tickets are on sale at Worcester. This means Saints and Gloucs fans will have to get them through Worcester and of course some will miss out because tickets will go to neutrals. The venue size is questionable, but just as problematic is the lack of time between semi and final, 1 week!

Is that not why, Sixways was advised that it was the venue, so as tickets could be completed except for names of finalists and Sixways could get plenty of staff, drinks and food in for the fianl...i believe they call it planning? i might be wrong.

Regardless of whether or not Sixways will sell out there can be little doubt that there would have been a vastly bigger crowd if the fixture had been played at Twickenham or Millenium stadium. Fans and neutrals will shell out for the prospect of a game at HQ - it's a day-out and something special. A trip down the M42 or up the M5 to Worcester is on the other hand not overly appealing to anyone other than diehard supporters.
The fact that Sixways was awarded the fixture shows that the RFU, PRL and WRU are not bothered about the cup. It's another way of quietly killing off the competition altogether.
14 team Premiership and the return of a proper knock-out English cup competition is surely the way to go. Who knows - maybe we'll have a return to the heady days of 2004 with singing once more in the streets of Pertemps.
