Fridays Game
Drutz 30 March, 2012 20:32
Good start, faded as the half has gone off and Perry not playing too well. But sorry someone needs to give Goodey a right earful. Was always going to be tough to get something with 15 men but having to play 45 minutes with 14 men is going to be a slaughter. also being a red will probably be 2 weeks without him as well. Not impressed.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a citing as it was a shoulder into Croft's head and looked pretty malicious. Bloody stupid and undid the work that Raz did to turn the ball over. Oh well, stuck a tenner on us to score the first points so at least it's not been a complete waste. I think we'll do well to finish within 25 points now.

Re: Fridays Game
Drutz 30 March, 2012 20:38
Red card should mean no citing but think he will get a 3 match ban so think he won't bee seen again this season.

Oh yeah forgot about that, but yeah looks to be the end of his season then anyway. Is Joey back to fitness soon? On the plus side Newcastle are losing so we could be mathematically safe tonight.

Re: Fridays Game
Drutz 30 March, 2012 20:43
Yes small mercy at the moment but don't think Joe is fit still so looks like Grey will get a run for the last few games.

Swore at the ref as well on his way off.........unbelievable!

Re: Fridays Game
Always A Warrior 30 March, 2012 20:46
He was playing quite well when he was actually on the pitch as well I thought. Oh well, thank God that we're pretty much safe because it'd be a whole lot worse if we were still fighting for our survival.

Re: Fridays Game
Master Warrior 30 March, 2012 20:52
Why are we nearly always embarrassing when on the TV?

It would be nice to put in a noteworthy performance sometimes when other fans are watching..........not a good advert for Worcester rugby.

Re: Fridays Game
Albionwarrior 30 March, 2012 20:53
Good first ten minutes

Lost to many of our own lineouts

To many turnovers gifted to Leicester

Gifted the second try ..... stupid control in the lineout

Goode sending off ... correct but must have been a complete headloss

We had very little chance at the beginning of the game .... but wth 14 we are dead in the water

Not looking forward to the second half

Thank god we're safe

First points in both halves! Let's take the positives from this game.

Re: Fridays Game

Surprised we took Cowen off as he was one of the few competing at the breakdown. Think though Matt K is doing ok we are missing Jake Abbott's abrasive edge.

To be fair the fact that we have only scored 16 tries in 18 games and are bottom of the try scoring record playing a boring brand of rugby is more likely to be a bad advert than hammerings on live TV

Re: Fridays Game
Master Warrior 30 March, 2012 21:20
I know, but we always seem to really under perform on the box, no hiding when everyone is watching.

Something else too; has going off your feet ceased to be and penalty at Welford road? (Sm105)

Re: Fridays Game

Getting embarrassing now..43 frickin points and 7 tries against.

Worse than most could have feared. Humbled on TV, and not many would have too much sympathy.

Hope the post match drinks are as cool as the reception Goode will get from his team mates. Former team mates ,may give him the bird to.

Re: Fridays Game
Albionwarrior 30 March, 2012 21:38
Lose as many lineouts, disrupted or stolen, as we have done, you are dead in the water against any opposition.

Loads of effort from the boys, but Leicester are playing with us ..... horrible to watch at times

Re: Fridays Game
Always A Warrior 30 March, 2012 21:44
Oh well, that could have been the score with 15 men let alone 14. At least we scored. Healey is such a bleedin' hypocrite. Before the match he was going on about how we should try and throw the ball around and Pat was saying that Welford Road isn't the place to do that, and then on about 78 minutes when we've been stuffed Healey starts saying that we were never going to be competitive if we tried to play an expansive game.

Re: Fridays Game
Master Warrior 30 March, 2012 21:46
Massive final effort from the boys to get that try, true grit and passion.....Andy you let everyone down. Danny had a good game, kicked well.

Re: Fridays Game
Mr_Worcester 30 March, 2012 21:46
Very proud of the boys tonight. I think the definition of 'rugby hell' is a man down at Welford road. In terms of attack it was totally us for the last 20 mins and we never stopped trying.

This sounds bizzare to say but I dont think there has been a game this season where we have deserved to score more than one try more.

Overall really dissapointing but good effort and some decent, consistent attack at the end.

Also would add that IMHO I think the score flattered Tigers immensely because only 2, maybe 3 of their tries were from good rugby/team play, the rest came from silly mistakes from us which shouldnt happen

Re: Fridays Game
Master Warrior 30 March, 2012 21:47
Falcons now winning by the way 22 - 19.

Re: Fridays Game

Team kept going for 80 minutes, and under the circumstances, this is testament to what Hill has encouraged and instilled in the team.

A different kind of embarrassment to the London Irish embarrassment.

Please dont get me started on the amount of things tigers werent penalised for! So so so many things Barnes just ignored.

Re: Fridays Game
Always A Warrior 30 March, 2012 22:00
I think Cockerill has been a bit harsh there with his comments saying that we didn't try to play at all. I thought we gave it a go in the second half at least. We weren't kicking everything away like against Newc.

It's all about the home record for me now. If we were to go all of 2012 undefeated at Fortress Sixways then that would be a massive achievement.

Re: Fridays Game
Turnover 30 March, 2012 22:00
Goode sending of left the boys with a real uphill task. However, accepting all of that we stuck in there but the gulf in class was very apparent. Our execution was very poor, completely dominated in the set piece and we were guilty of making some very basic errors when we were in the ascendancy. We really have to go up another level or two if we are going to give the likes of Tigers even anything resembleing a game.I have never been to Welford rd yet and come away thinking we left a positive mark.I thought Danny Gray did well as did Cowan when on the field but also highlighted how both our second rows were outclassed by Kitchener's all round ability. Cockerill very disparaging of Worcester. One day, maybe one day we might just make Richard Cockerill eat his own words. Yes, and Pigs might fly.

Re: Fridays Game
Shoutin' Bloke 30 March, 2012 22:08
Chiefs at home is a whole new ball game now. Not certain of victory and hoping Glaws can finish off Falcons.

Much to consider and discuss.

Re: Fridays Game
Shoutin' Bloke 30 March, 2012 22:14
Is Kitch playing out of his skin, any surprise?

Cocker will have wound him up to produce a performance to make Warriors rue the day Kitch left, as well as getting him so coverage to catch Rowntree's eye.

Re: Fridays Game
Mr_Worcester 30 March, 2012 22:15
For us to go down. We would have to loose every remaining game, and not pick up a SINGLE point. And on top of that Falcons would have to win all their games and pick up an extra try bonus point from one of them

People can talk about 'not mathematically safe' and 'what if' all they like. But that just isnt going to happen so I dont see how there can be any discussion on it.

Re: Fridays Game

Re: Fridays Game

For a minute there I thought we were going to scare Leicester! The only scare that Leicester got was if there was going to be enough numbers on the score board.
Never mind, coming second is what we do best!

Re: Fridays Game
ROLLO 30 March, 2012 22:22
Lemi is going to have to go some to fill Garveys shoes, one or two of his tackles tonight were top draw.
Very disdappointing, it is not nice hearing Cockerill, Healy and Dewi Morris on the Rugby Club saying that we don't play rugby.
Exeter have proved that it can be done. We have a very big challenge next season, players and coaches, mostly the latter IMHO.

Re: Fridays Game
Albionwarrior 30 March, 2012 22:32
Mathamatically of course Worcester can stll be relegated.

Realistically .... NO CHANCE

If Gloucester win at Wasps and prevent them getting a bonus point, I think Wasps may not get a point up until the final game against Falcons

Falcons need to get a LBP against either Gloucester away or Saracens at home

If that happens why can't they turn over Wasps on the last day of the season and survive .... Obviously if some team that doesn't fit the promotion criteria wins the Championship .... No relegation ... AS said before ... TOTAL FARSE

AS for Warriors ... I think we'll get at least one more victory before the end of the season.

For what it's worth it stick in the throat when Cockerill makes that type of comment on TV .... WE weren't a good enough team or play anywhere near well enough to realistically get a result. Goode sending off sealed our fate anyway. But disparaging remarks from the Leicester head coach are just pure arrogance and hurt. But lets front up and use them as the benchmark we need to aspire too .... Minus the gloating of course

Re: Fridays Game

Via the medium of Radio actually, but it was Leicester Radio, so maybe a bit one eyed? Couldn't rely on the speed of beeb Internet updates whilst away. Maybe Bradders would have been the better choice for balance?

Have they got it wrong, or did our line out get dismantled with the aid of Kitch, or was it just that we were so poor in this area that even a poor Kitch, looked better?

Re: Fridays Game
usa warrior 30 March, 2012 22:55
Kitchener was good, but lineout was dreadful. Unforgivable to lose that much ball. Lutui's carrying is not enough to justify his throwing.

Hill refuses to blame individuals after Tigers defeat

I suspect that behind the scenes chats may have been, or will be different. Although I predicted that we would get beat by a lot, is it that Hilly thought the same, and therefore the sending off did not really affect the outcome, and is therefore mitigating the sending off

Just one thought, how many tries did they score off turn over ball?

Re: Fridays Game
Purebob 31 March, 2012 08:42
Commiserations from a Tiger.

I do not know why Cockerill had to be so dismissive in interviews, not many teams come to WR a chuck cut-out passes all the while from minute one so its not only Warriors who close up a bit at our place.

As it happens Wuss's 2nd half attack when down to 14 men was pretty creditable and your try was thoroughly deserved.

My family and I loved the away leg at Sixways, and we loved the banter with Wuss fans on the terrace last night.

Good luck for the rest of the season. We will meet again next season I am sure.

Agree Purebob, we had some great banter with Worcester fans behind us.

And at least Cockers came out and said he thought Andy's tackle was rash rather than nasty and the red card should suffice. Let's hope so.

Do us a favour and save your best game of the season until the last one and put a good few tries on Saints!!

Re: Fridays Game

Not wanting to get into any recriminations or anything - but I think you were a little unlucky last night at least two of the second half tries were fortuitous. Your guys kept on trying and deserved their try at the death.

Keep going - you should be safe - and we'll see you next year.

Couldn't make the match but it sounds like the players never gave up which is a possitive to take out of the game.

Sound's like the line out struggled again, dissapointing after Jones claim's in the Press, i think Gulliver should be given a start in the Premiership to see what he can do, he has impressed me in the matches i have seen him play. Hopefully he would be as impressive as the other two Pirates who have been excellent signing's.

Re: Fridays Game
TonyMay 31 March, 2012 18:46
A lot of teams come to Welford road and there already beaten before they've got onto the pitch because they haven't got the sheer bloodymindedness to grind out a win. Go one man down, and it's inevitable that everyone's heads go down.

your lineout improved quite a bit when the big bald bloke came on (although at that point it couldn't really of got much worse).

Your scrum on the other hand wasn't as bad as Newcastle's, but still room for improvement

The pitch at Welford Road is small so you have to play a power game. Win the collisions and get over the gainline, recycle the ball and repeat. I think at least 2, possibly 3 of Tigers tries came from turnover ball.

Goodey's red card was daft. Quite how a guy who's 5'11" can actually head-high shoulder charge someone who's 6'6" is beyond me.

How was Perry's game? Seems to have had a few indifferent games of late.

Is Jonny A going to be given a run or games, or is Hill getting him used to bench filling for next season too?

Re: Fridays Game

Didn't do badly, but difficult game to rate players on. The patches of play were few and interspersed between Wayne's penalties. Mostly correct in the eyes of the law.

Think Jonny may be lucky to see the bench next year unfortunately.

For Me SB, Perry very poor , a scrum half must be able to pass the ball consistently, regrettably Perry can't. He offers much in terms of defensive qualities but frankly that is not enough when more than occasionally you are required to go forwrad. Johnnie Arr for me every time.
