Help Needed

Hi guy's,I'm looking to come up for Chiefs pre-season game on Aug 29th,I am looking to stay the night before moving on the following day.
Could anybody recommend hotels either near the ground,I don't mind a short walk or taxi ride,or would it be better to book in the town center?
If I did book in town will buses be running a service to Sixways?
Any info would be much appreciated.(Sm42)

Premier Inn by the ground on Junction 6 of the M5, you can leave your car there and walk to the ground in less than 5 minutes.
Pear Tree Hotel an easy walk along the canal towpath away if you fancy something a bit more up market.
These two are probably the closest and most convenient to the ground, and it means you can be back on the M5 and away next day.

Alternatively, Travelodge in Cathederal Close (has car park) puts you bang into the city centre for a decent choice of pubs before and after, and quite a few late night bars with music etc.

I would expect the usual rugby special buses from the central bus station will be operating (but don't take that as a fact!!) but even if they're not the Travelodge + Taxis would probably still be cheaper than the Premier, all depends what you want.

If you walk directly over the Sixways roundabout and into the main entrance you probably wouldn't make it there in 5 mins from the Premier Inn. Let's not give false info!

If you do chose the Premier Inn @ Junction 6, it will be at least a 20-25 minute walk from your hotel room to your seat depending on queues and how fast you walk! You are much, much better off staying in the city centre. If you stay in the Premier Inn at Junction 6 you will literally have nothing to do for the night before but sit in your room as you'll be stuck on a 21st century industrial estate about 4 miles away from the city centre. Unfortunately Sixways is extremely isolated and is basically like an out of town shopping centre. There are a number of decent hotels in the city centre though with a plethora of decent bars and pubs. Depends what you're after and what your budget is but the Premier Inn on New Road is decent and you may be lucky enough to get a room with a view over the most picturesque cricket ground in the country. You'll then be within walking distance of the city centre and all it has to offer.

Unsure whether buses will be running, a black cab to and from Sixways will set you back the best part of £20 from town, such is the location of the ground.

This site link should help 4everchief link.... It really depends what you want and how much you want to pay.
The Three pears(premier Inn) is literally 2 mins off the M5 and rooms start at around £55
The Pear tree (turn right off island at entrance to the ground) is about a mile away and and their standard double rooms start at about £120 - Probably somewhere I would use if I brought the other half (as long as she brought her credit card! )
Trust me, there are enough bars at Sixways to ensure a decent nights sleep at either.
If you are lured by the thought of the bright lights of a night out in Worcester city centre their are plenty of options if you want a room. or you could just catch the park and ride bus from behind the North stand at the end of the match.
Be warned, the city centre on a Friday night can resemble Beirut (on a good day!)

barely anyone uses the bars for league game fixtures so for a friendly i'd imagine the ground will be completely deserted an hour after kick off. if drinking on your own is what you want then great, otherwise head into town. it's absolutely no worse than any other uk city centre on any friday night.

If you stay in the city you can choose post game venues but will need costly transport back from the ground. If you stay near the ground, you'll be close to a generic pub and room for the night within reach of the ground, and will need to pay for expensive transport into the city to get your thrills.

The city centre" no worse than any other city"... Not exactly a ringing endorsement, but it may, or may not have what you're looking for.

From a visitor's perspective, Pirates - I recommend the Old Talbot as a reasonable price City Centre pub to stay in.

Quite ramshackle but tidy & clean, good food and a good choice of real ales & close to the Cathedral.

Last time we came up was pre-season, after staying on at Sixway still quite late I missed the last bus back to town and walked in to the city along the canal towpath, about 3 miles and quite a pleasant walk - totally different to Cornwall.

The only downside is its about 2.5 miles to the first canal side pub!! but if you're reasonably capable of walking (I'm closer to 70 than 60) worth considering.
