Hopefully to late for this season bit seems like a couple of good appointments for Irish going forward.

It must be official because the BBC eventually pulled their finger out and announced it!
It looks as if it is with immediate effect.......am I worrying unnecessarily? How many games are there to go? Can it happen? Are we safe? Is Weir coming soon? Can DoC pull out a few more brilliant performances? DOes anyone have a rabbits foot handy? Four leaf clover?

I WAS feeling safe - even after the Tigers game. But now.........?

5 games to go, they’ve got both Ex and Sarries still who are still fighting for top spot.

Mathematically still possible so until it’s not you can fret.

Glos H
Quins A
Exeter H
Sarries H
Bath A

Maybe wins against against Gloucester and Quins and losing bonus points against the last three - possibly accruing 11 points - that's with me with my most optimistic Irish hat on.

With my most pessimistic warriors hat on - we get nothing from our last five games.
Still not enough.

Sorry, but "dead cats" rarely bounce more than once.(Sm14)

They smashed us and ran a decent Wasps side close. We folded.

The momentum is with them. We have only points in the bag. Beating Sale is the easiest was to avoid further angst in an already angst filled season, then kick on for as many points we can amass to at least salvage something of worth.

Our only points will come in the last two games, Quins at Sixways and Saints away.

We will get 5 more points from the last 5 games.

The idea that Irish smashed us is revisionism in my opinion. Watch that game again and you see two poor sides, with one of them marginally more physical than the other and scoring a great solo try.

I don't think they'll catch us. Two decent appointments for them though.

Who would have expected us to take nine points away from home at Exeter and Leicester. We are not safe. But based on our last two performances the players think we are.

The league table doesn't lie. We are the two worst sides in the division and remain so.

Irish haven't suddenly become a good side. Their failings are there for all to see.

They have enjoyed a raise in their levels of confidence in a home win against a poor side disrupted by injury and a knee-jerk selection which solly, in recent comments in the press appears to have taken note of.

The sun will continue to rise and set and Irish will be playing in the Championship next season.

Irish may win more to make life a little nervous for us. But they will not win enough to stay up.
My thoughts, worries and hopes have swapped to next season.

Two Locks - or one lock and Darren Barry learning to catch would improve my confidence.
Add an 80% kicker and we will at least be competitive.

Agree with this and similar points made by Southstand(again) and Offa.

So the manner of defeat and the lack of points scored against Irish was narrow?

Yes we had late changes. Mgt shouldn’t have tried to wait NGD it knowing that three players hadn’t trained all week.

We should have still given Irish a game, and arguably given only one win all season, beaten them.

Call it how you do, THAT defeat was damaging.

Irish fan in peace.

I think the chances of us (Irish) finishing anywhere other than at the bottom of the pile disappeared around Christmas time. I don't think anyone here realistically thinks we will not be relegated.

Next season should be interesting though. Will Bristol be able to rise to the challenge or will they sink back? They seem to have been shovelling funds in this season so no shortage of money around (again). But we all know that's not a guarantee of success.

Where do you expect yourselves to be placed next season?

Or is anyone expecting ring fencing?

Interested in your views.

Good luck for the remainder of the season.

I have a feeling ringfencing will come in at some stage in the future may be 5 to 10 yrs time it depends on how many financially viable clubs are still around.

Ecksile we have ring fencing at present it just involves 13 clubs is a 12 club league. The team that goes down will come up and the team that comes up has every chance of going back down. I really don't see any change next season.
There are many elements to success in the AP both on and off the pitch. Falcons and Sale have proved that it takes time, I think that for all of the cash Bristol are going to find it incredibly tough so unless one of the other clubs ( Saints /Quins ) implode I can't see Bristol having enough to test Wuss, indeed I think we could be in for a much better season if we can sign another couple of locks and possibly a second stand off. That is on the basis that our revised Coaching team is up to snuff. In other words who knows! but I travel with optimism.

Agree with Rollo; I have a feeling we will do much better next season. Mind you, I've felt that before...

Interesting piece in the Rugby Paper with Irish having lent Blair Cowan out and still signing players are they expecting the drawbridge to be pulled up?

Re: Declan kidney and Les Kiss to Irish
Brummagem Bertie 15 March, 2018 14:06
I presume that they are signing players to replace those leaving.

Ben Franks to Numpton.

Also saw a rumour yesterday linking Jonny Williams, the centre, with a move to Bath. Fancy that, a talented young LI player heading West along the M4.
