Does anyone else keep getting redirected to a web page saying they've won a new iPhone?

This is only happening if I view the site on iPhone or iPad using the mobile version of the site.

Yes. Don't click the "close" icon, it probably won't close and may hide malware.

Close the browser window and start again.

I didn't think you could get malware on iOS?

According to cyber security consultant Ted Jnr #1. It all depends what you mean by malware.

iOS is by far the most secure of the common systems, but a simple link, usually routed to advertising media, and hidden behind a "close" or "x" icon on a popup, will cause a redirect. Not usually dangerous, but irritating, and is almost certainly what we have here.

More serious stuff, which seeks to embed a phishing function, will be defeated by iOS, but not necessarily by MS or Android.

There is an issue he's currently advising on, which is how to make people aware that certain well known social media sites, as well as home "personal assistant" devices, of which there are 2 market leaders currently being heavily promoted, have the ability to switch on your device microphone without your knowledge. Data is routed to word recognition software which is used to direct targeted marketing.

This can be disabled, with some patience, but is active by default on certain phone operating systems.

I can't say more, his job is subject to developed vetting restrictions, but a lot of this is in the public domain and can be googled, but it goes deeper.

Bottom line, all systems in the Ted family are Apple.
