Kenny Logan, writing in the Telegraph, about Doddie being diagnosed with motor neurone disease, which did for Joost van der Westhuizen.

Whatever you do, do it safely!

Met Doddie and his family at the top of a cable car ride in Rotorua New Zealand in the summer ... happy to chat and have a picture taken with him and his lovely family ... he was and is a top bloke and take it from me "All the good things you read about him are all true", it was out at the time regarding his condition and it puts your own issues into the pretty insignificant box when you see the stoic, brave way he and is family are dealing with it.... More people like him in this world would make is as much better place ... It is said God gives his strongest soldiers the toughest tasks ..... Unfortunately in this case it is true ... What a lovely fella

Wasn't going to post anything until closer to the time, but as it there is a thread about the big man on here, I shall post now, and remind after Xmas.

I'm part of a charity walk in aid of Doddie's charity that is taking place on Jan 6th, starting at Upton Rugby Club across to Ledbury RFC.

All donations to The Doddie Weir Trust.

Such a huge shame, but he is determined to turn his situation into a positive and help research for future sufferers.

Hi All

Further to the post above, we are setting off from Upton RFC before 9am, proceeding through Hanley Swan, then up over British Camp (where we will stop off and get the buckets out!) and on down to Ledbury RFC, aiming to arrive around 1pm.

We are hoping to have some Warriors representation both on the walk and at Ledbury when we arrive - all to be confirmed. We are hoping to pull in a good crowd at Ledbury to raise more money. Ledbury have a home game that day too. The Warriors game is on the Friday night. Be great to get as many as you guys along!

In the meantime - please follow us - and ANY donation goes to the Doddie Weir Trust.
