(England Rugby) Isn't it a bit like the time Tuilagi punched Ashton? It's wrong on all levels, but a small part of you thinks "Yes!"

Given Geezer's previous, [www.englandrugby.com] , it could be a lengthy ban and expensive.

Whatever you do, do it safely!

Not sure what he said but as it involved Craig maxwell-keyes it was probably justified

Ake. NO. It was not justified whatever he said. Public disrespect for the referee never has any place in Rugby Union. It's one of the core values which separates our sport with other popular sports.
If you've got a moan keep it private.

Dimes, Cockers, and The Cheat in The North are all from time to time guilty of a total lack of professionalism in this respect.

Drifter, Itís fine for us paying customers to say what we like, and after all who takes a blind bit of notice?

There are channels of feedback for officialsí performance reviews, and these should be used. Public comment serves no purpose.

100% agree with EW, itís a thin edge of a wedge which leads towards the need for things like ďtechnical areasĒ as used in footie, and all the other horrors that end up in corralled spectator segregation.

It's always good to hear things from the referees' point of view when they come to visit us. They have in the past brought video clips of incidents which are open to interpretation. It has been known, if I remember correctly, for one half of the room to penalise Team A, when we were asked to decide what action should be taken, whilst the other half would have penalised Team B.

Who'd be a referee?

That accepted... At a local match last weekend the Ref warned a spectator that any more remarks aimed at the ref and the spectator would be asked to leave,...(Sm54)

At a 7ís festival last season, my lads team were penalised 10m by the ref for a parent questioning a knock on. Even though the parent apologised to the ref. The lads were still penalised. (Sm19)

Ha, I can think of quite a few in the east stand who wouldnít get past the first 10 minutes, particularly the large gentleman in block D!!

Agreed, although us punters moaning on a forum is fair game imho.

Rightly so, as hard as it is as a parent to bite your tongue kids need to be set the example the ref is always right.

Going to have to disagree with you on that one. The kids should not be penalised due to the actions of others. Tha parent should have been the one to be penalised.

A female referee for a European game next month,Clare Daniels at our Sale game last week. Also an announcement that the RFU are seeking to encourage more female officials for the top end of the game. It will take time but this is wonderful news and cannot come soon enough. The cosy boys club of top end refs.needs a bit of a shake up. The interaction between the TMO,the ref.and the two assistant refs still seems a bit of a lottery towards consistent decisions. The Dan Robson try for Wasps against Saints was perfectly good.Close to the touch line, but good. What was the. AR watching?
With our club in its present state, can you imagine that type of try being ruled out and us being relegated,or,another Premiership club?
The amounts of money in play in the Premiership and the amount of money the RFU has in its coffers, should mean better and higher standards in the refereeing department.
I acknowledge it is a very difficult job but I can understand the frustration Steve Diamond and latterly Dean Ryan have with decisions in games.

It is only wonderful news if they are good referees. The fact that they are female has nothing to do with it.

It is a slightly spurious claim. I remember some time ago research being done around male/female visual perception in a sporting context.Women were better at analysing the amount of information happening during a game situation.I think it was sport in a wider context.

I doubt Mr Diamond will lose too much sleep over the outcome of his latest spat.

Points deductions. Now that would be interesting, but of little use to us unless Dimes went on a ref tirade of biblical proportions for the remainder of the season.

With Sale 10th in the table there may be a few around Sixways and the Madjeski Stadium hoping that Mr. Diamond continues to speak his mind!!

Beeb summary confirming he won't be at Sixways. Who's going to be the Pantomime villain now?

We don't seem to be lacking in choice when it comes to villains.

I'd like to see an NFL type system of reffing brought into rugby, with a central command doing video analysis for all games the same.
