Unfortunately not picked in Scotland's 23 v Wales so no match up with Josh.

I don't know too much about Scotland's backrow but John Barclay picks himself and not just because he's captain. He's an outstanding player.

But the rest including the replacement backrows must be really good if Denton can't even make the squad. And that's not being one-eyed either.

Shame for Denton.

Does he get released back to us?

Sad news for Denton, though.

No idea but I wouldn't pick him v Dragons anyway.

Re: Denton
FlipFlop 31 January, 2018 12:53
I doubt he would have been considered given that he had an even chance of being involved with Scotland, but the week after is more important for us needing him.

Re: Denton
Underdog 31 January, 2018 13:17
Watson is an outstanding presence / nuisance at the breakdown, and I'd say du Preez is a very similar player to Denton, bit with more recent involvement in the Scotland squad so no surprise has ahead of him.

Interestingly, Watson will be facing off against Moriarty in the Welsh back row. The game's afoot...

Re: Denton
TeflonTed 31 January, 2018 13:33
I’m sorry for DD, he’s been outstanding for us.

Selfishly, at least it spares us the agony of having to watch him trying to make a try scoring tackle against Josh, with the risk of either or both getting broken.

Re: Denton
Fiver 31 January, 2018 17:20
What about if Dave did get picked and got broken. He's made no secret of coming to Warriors to get game time and hopefully back into the Scotland squad. Would he then have to endure the abuse that Ben gets? Or does he come across better on TV?

That amused me.

I hope Scotland release him to play for us and he's fired up to prove a point.

DD has been consistently outstanding for us. I’m not sure Teo has been outstanding once, let alone consistently. He puts his body on the line game after game. If you feel Teo does that for Worcester you are kidding yourself.

David can still get some good games in for us and get selected for Scotland later in the campaign which will be a big positive for us.

I read somewhere that Wales have to release England based players on certain of the rest weekends, so the same must be true for Scotland. I would also think that Scotland might release him back to us if not selected, so that he can get some game time and stay sharp, like Wales have done with George North back to Saints for this weekend.

Whatever you do, do it safely!

Re: Denton

As Bath found out recently with playing Felatau, it can be costly flouting WRU rules on permitted play weekends.

Re: Denton
usa warrior 31 January, 2018 22:32
That was the RFU rules they flouted I believe.

I just had visions of Barclay telling Gregor that he'd like to play scrum half and take all of the kicks etc....., Possibly designing the new kit as well.

Just to get back to Denton (and we'll know quite soon), I don't expect to see his name on the team sheet against Dragons, but I won't be surprised if it is. He is keen to get as much game time as possible, and I'm sure he'd be up for it, but may be denied for obvious reasons.

PRL rules actually.

Although the RFU might ask themselves why they pay all the money they do to PRL for the release of the England players.

Holmes: "My dear Watson, it's a lemon entry."

Should have been in the team last week.

Good luck Dave.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Nobody expected Scotland's backrow to perform so badly last week. But I would've started Denton last week anyway.

Re: Denton

3 players involved in 3 6N teams this weekend! Great news.

Re: Denton
FlipFlop 08 February, 2018 11:31
Did Scotland perform badly, or did Wales cause Scottish failure?

It sounds like when Warriors win, the other team is deemed to have had a bad day, rarely that Warriors neutralised the other team to get the result.

Re: Denton
TeflonTed 08 February, 2018 12:18
Good point Flippy.

We all know Wales played brilliantly.

Well, those of us who like Laverbread do.

Re: Denton
w4rriorz1980 08 February, 2018 12:21
True,Wales played well aswell.

Re: Denton

Calm down TT. Sir Warren hasn't quite delivered for the principality yet.

He'll have got the Scots revved up to thump the French though, and no doubt looking to get one over Uncle Eddie this weekend.

Re: Denton
TeflonTed 08 February, 2018 12:32
Indeed, and always remembering that Wales have as many missing key players as available ones!!
