Against Exeter was the first time this season we have fielded the 15 EQP's we need to average to get our EQP payment.

Can't be bad.

Believe weíre at about 52% EQP players in the squad. Third lowest in Europe. Irish are first lowest.

usa, I think that was a survey of percentage of foreign born players. Some of those born abroad will be EQP, eg Sharky.

Whatever you do, do it safely!

Ahhh, slightly different context. You saw that too clearly.

Canít see the percentage EQP being any great shakes though, and likely getting worse no doubt. Not that I mind in any way if it brings some success.

It matters to our owners because they will lose a lot of money.

Getting relegated will lose them more. We're not signing any EQP players from what I can think of, they cost too much if they're any good. I think we'll need to take that hit until we're a mid-table team (how many years have we been saying that?).

Hasn't he played for the Wolfhounds (Ireland A)? If so, no longer EQP.

I reckon heíd be listed here if heíd ever played for the Wolfhounds.

From other sources, heís American born, Ireland qualified due to paternal grandfather, but not tied to either.

I reckon the only way he could become EQP is by residency, presume heís been living in Ulster, so his residency would have to start when he moves back to England.

As an aside, Iím told that the IRFU would count Ulster as qualifying for Irish residency, but thatís deep political water.

Hopefully if we can start getting the likes of Hill and Lawrence into the mix, things will be improving, although i tend to agree that it is a "nice to have" requirement, rather than financially important at this stage. Unless the RFU start imposing EQP quota's. That would be fun watching your best EQP being poached to help the establishment meet their quotas.

Would Callum's previous tenancy in England not contribute towards his EQP qualification?

Does is rescind once you move countries?

Not true. European games count towards the total figure and we fielded >15 EQP players in all 6 rounds this season (including 20 EQP v Brive A)

Actually if you take into account residency and ancestry rules we are 66% EQP. Key differences are most of our South African contingent are english qualified.

As far as I can find, thereís nothing specific written down, my working assumption is that the view would be taken that current residency, now 3 yrs, soon to be 5, would be used. So, if a player has lived abroad for some years, his qualifying period would start on his return.

This is purely an opinion, based on what I couldnít find, rather than what I could.

Be nice to know, just for the sake of knowing.

Compounded by the fact that he qualifies for about 15 different countries...

The question is, can you gain EQP status, and then lose it again due to moving club?

Probably, in my view.

Letís imagine Bert Hooker is born in NZ, moves to UK when heís 8, stays for 10 years and is registered for Blogstown RFC. He is EQP. But a rubbish player.

His family move back to NZ, he finds a new trainer, and after a few years becomes a great player, but not quite an AB.

So his agent finds him a contract at Worcester, does he become EQP on the day he arrives?, because he once lived in Blogstown?

My guess is not......but itís a guess.

Nor forgetting that EQP payment is dependent on the match day 23.

The makeup of the overall squad is interesting, but doesnít affect payment.

No, they had a second level senior side, was called A, then renamed Wolfhounds.
