Which we won't have a sniff of winning as Solomons, rightly or wrongly is putting all his eggs in the Premiership basket.

w4, given the choice of a Premiership mid table finish or a place in the new cup competition semi final and/or final, which would you prefer ??
Without question, AS is quite right when says Premiership has to be the primary focus.

Yes you are right,as is Solomons.I was just sitting on the fence a little too long!
Anyhoo we'll treat as an extension of the A-league,we're pretty good at blooding young players! Which is an understatement!

Good idea, but it will be difficult to get folk through the door to watch quasi Academy games.

I understand priority of Prem, but Euro and Prem Cups will not be a good draw for crowds based on this approach. The club may need to think how to promote these games to make them attractive to 'locals'. Maybe even go down the local schools route to help bolster attendances.

Good itís just a shame it has been replaced by another pointless competition. Much better would be to have a proper A league structure which would allow some periods of rest for senior players, it may cut down on injuries.

So we now have the Premiership, the Premiership Rugby Cup, and the Premiership A League, the last also now solely involving Premiership teams with the jettisoning of London Irish. Add to that the repeated raising of ringfencing. All this on top of recent moves to restrict participation of Pro 12 (as was) teams in the Champions Cup and teams from Italy, Spain , etc in the Challenge Cup, whilst the RFU seem dead set against a two tier 6N which might allow the likes of Georgia to play at the top table, and is very reluctant for England to play against Tier 2 nations.

Meanwhile, the Pro14 has expanded to take in South Africa and is now eyeing up North America. Super Rugby has expanded to take in Argentina and Japan and is also now eyeing up North America.

Good to know the English game isn't self obsessed, insular and inward-looking, isn't it?

Whatever you do, do it safely!

What a completely pointless tournament. Meanwhile i notice that the british and irish cup has also disbanded and has been replaced with a cup for, yep youve guessed it, just Championship clubs!
