2018/19 squad

As time is going on and with there being no news in the 'project players' front, does this mean that our locks for next season are as we know it, and does this mean that this is HAS to be the year for Andrew Kitchener to break into th first team - and stay there on merit, or, does anyone exact another quality lock, etc to be added?
The clock is ticking (I've heard that somewhere else I think) , pre-season training is well under way. Do we go with what we have or is there more news to come?

There was this recently in the WN:-

This might be a planted hint that indeed Kitchener is expected to break into the regular matchday squad - or it might just be filling space.

Kitch should be ready by now. He’s been through the entire process, had the benefit of a couple of years with DoC, he’s 22 in a couple of weeks.

If not now, when?

I agree, I really hope he makes it.

Although Barry and Phillips could easily be the starting pair, actually I prefer bresler to barry, but I'd like Kitchener Phillips until our kiwi turns up.

kiddykid I had had the same thought myself. It is the way that players develop, I remember thinking who is the chap Wood or Kevesic who seems to be coming into the side and then all of a sudden they are regular players.
Barry was just getting back some form toward the end of the season having had an injury interrupted start, Solly knows Bresler's capabilities and Phillips is another season into AP assimilation. I am hoping we have enough until the reinforcement arrives in Oct/Nov, but am still disappointed that Spencer is not with us.

Bresler was really good when he first arrived then had a few injuries which kept him out.

A full pre-season and I think we'll have a really good player on our hands.

I think that Bresler could be a key player for us this season.
He certainly isn't afraid to mix it up a bit.

Where are Kitchener and Lokotui? This HAS to be a typo surely?!

And, does this mean that Messrs Hearle, Lawrence, Hill, Butler, Cutting and Scott are only Academy players?

Kitch completing his degree so staying in Acad, Lokotui has left the club.

To answer your other question - yes...

Clegg and Xiouroppa (i've got no chance there...) are a year older than the rest.

Hi guys.
Over on the Bath boards, I'm trying to put together how each squad is looking; so full squads, academy, EQP status and pecking order - all that jazz.
If you could give me some feedback, I would like to get this as accurate as possible - so please point out any typos / human error I've made; obivous mistakes in the pecking order or "that guy plays tight head, not lose head" type things.
Surely a whole bunch of your players are EQP, even if born overseas.
I will continue to edit all of this; and get it as accurate as I realistically can by season's kick-off.
Obviously, if you want to see what I've got for the other clubs, just visit the Bath board - it's currently a sticky thread (to keep the forum open for another fortnight).
Cheers; Aidan

Impressive to do this for all the squads.

Two small points - both Shillcock and Mills have double ls in their surnames.

My comments, FWW, are as follows:-

LHP - I would see Black and Waller competing for the starting shirt

Hooker - Singleton so near England selection would I presume be the starter.

Second Row - I could see Phillips partnering Fatiolofa but arguments could be made for several others.

Back Row - I would expect Du Preez to start at 8

FH - Interesting. I would probably put Lance to start with Weir on the bench but again open to argument

Centres - Mills at 12 with Te'o at 13 but some strength in depth

With a new head coach starting next season let's be honest, we don't know who he'll start.

That said kerrod is a thp.
I think Lance and venter will start and mama.

Thanks for the changes guys - all done at my end; I'll try to keep up with the edits, and post it again just ahead of kick-off 2018 when everyone should have finished their recruiting and budgetting.

Shifting Kerrod to THP mean I've got you guys with 2 LHPs and 5 THPs (ignoring the academy) - surely that's wrong as well?

As for Mama - he did pick up that U20 cap for Zimbabwe; which causes me to doubt.
Does anyone know for sure if that ties him in or not (there have been a few players with that tie, they were unaware of being unavilable for anyone else)

I’ve had a good trawl around t’internet and can find no mention of a Zimbabwean 2nd string national side, which would make the U20’s their second level, which would tie Mama.

Not a definitive answer, but the best I can do.

Has anybody tried asking him? I don’t do Twitter myself.

Zimbabwe don't have a nominated "next senior national representative team" so Mama's U20 caps for them wouldn't preclude england selection. See below:

[pulse-static-files.s3.amazonaws.com]

Also a couple of pointers. Include Justin Clegg LK - just promoted from academy. A few swaps in back row - Hill is a 6, Kirwan a 7 and Dodd an 8. Centres: Beck and Lawrence are 13s. Butler 12.

By my maths we are 62% EQP for senior squad and 69% including the academy. You probably hadn't factored in the following players - Annett, Miller, Williams, Kerrod, Milasinovich, Schonert, Lewis, Mama, Van Velze, Heaney and Hammond all EQP.

For my EQP numbers, I'm only counting serior squad.
Bolded are EQP; itallicised are academy

Well, I've got you with 46 senior players; and the information given elsewhere here suggests that 29 of them are EQP; giving me my 63.0%
Please give me the specifics of where I, and the rest of this forum are wrong. I'm perfectly happy to believe that I am wrong; but you guys know your squad a hell of a lot better than I.
Point of order, I'm also being given 2 categoric, and different EQP %ages (62 or 53)

ETA : I've spotted one mistake - I seem to have Ted Hill twice, in both academy and seniors; taking out 1 EQP player brings me back to 45 players and 62.2%. I'm going to randomly call him a blindside, as that's where you're short, unless someone tells me otherwise.
I'll leave you guys to argue over 62% or 53%

Plus Sam Lewis and Niall Annett JP. Under the current rules (due to change in 2020) you only need 3 years in one country to qualify. They have both played here since the 2014/15 season. I.e. over 3 years ago. So both EQP.

Yeah I'm sure he would rather play for Wales. Given their depth at openside (Warburton, Tipuric, Davies, Navidi, Jenkins, T.Young! he might be better off going down the England route.

As you say being EQP does his chances no harm either way but benefits us financially.
