I read France are going to wear rainbow laces in support of Gareth Thomas following the vile homophobic assault he suffered. Fantastic gesture! Why aren't Wales? Why don't the warriors?
I don't expect a landslide of support for this gay support gesture but I thought I'd put it out there.

I think it's a very classy gesture.

It's a tremendous pity it's needed. But on the basis there's very little that individual people can do but make a statement - they have stood up and made the statement.

Certainly a welcome show of support from France, particularly given the unsavoury and unacceptable Basteraud incident last season. Well done.

Whatever you do, do it safely!

That's brilliant - my natural cynicism is unfounded.

Will England, Wales etc. also be tying their (multi) colours to the mast, or should I say boots?

Since I left school (about the same time as Tom Brown) I have never worn shoes with laces, apart from my rugby playing days. What the hell, I'll get some - can anybody think of an alternative use?

whilst fully supporting Alfie I cannot understand how a 16 year old managed to assault him without getting his head kicked in.

Perhaps Alfie had a degree of self control that the other fw lacked.

Given the time of the assault Alfie's ability to defend himself might have been a little impaired?

Have to say I thought the same (although I thought "coming off second best" rather than your probably well deserved but more extreme reaction!).

I'm wondering if Alfie is smart enough not to get embroiled in beating the cr@p out of a 16 year old. The lesser of the evils might be to take the hit.

Failing that he was caught by surprise, possibly after a few too many drinks. No idea really. the details are fairly scarce so easy to make up assumptions.
