Cardiff Blues will be saying a fond farewell to a number of Blues stars when they take on Edinburgh at the Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday at 2.05pm
The last home game of the season sees the Blues take on Edinburgh with a number of Blues stars such as Casey Laulala, Richie Rees, Martyn Williams, Gethin Jenkins, John Yapp and Dan Parks all expected to wear the Blues shirt at home for the last time following the announcement they will be moving on next season.

It's the last chance for supporters to see these great servants in action at home for the Blues and a last chance for the players to thank the supporters for their loyalty. Tickets for the match cost just £22 for adults and under 16s go free if they attend with an adult. Tickets can be purchased online at www.cardiffblues.com/tickets

The following players will be leaving the squad at the end of the season and everyone at the Cardiff Blues would like to thank them for their outstanding contribution to the Blues over a number of years. There will be a special shirt presentation to the players at the end of the match as well as at the evening's awards ceremony.

Ben Blair
Casey Laulala
Dan Parks
Deiniol Jones
Gethin Jenkins
John Yapp
Maama Molitika
Martyn Williams
Paul Tito
Richie Rees
T Rhys Thomas
Faao Filise

Speaking of the departures Cardiff Blues Chairman, Peter Thomas, said:

"On the field we have had some tremendous individuals, both as people and players, who have given their all to the Cardiff Blues over the best part of ten years for most of them."

"Each one of them has given everything to the cause it was this group of players that brought us such fantastic success winning silverware in the EDF and Amlin Cups."

"Every team has its life cycle and a majority of the players moving on are now in their early or mid thirties."

"I'm sure that I speak on behalf of everyone when I thank them for their outstanding service and wish them the best of luck with their future careers."

Yeah but most teams have a host of young, talented players coming through - such as Cuthbert who we are struggling to keep - but he's the only one!

Can't believe Sweeney is staying, he's a good 10, but the fact it looks like he was leaving all season and is now staying is disconcerting, proves we are scraping the barrel now!

We have lots of talented young players you just haven't heard of them yet obviously. How many of you had heard of Cuthbert before this season?

Well, those of us who watched the Rags and the age grade games have watched him
He wuill learn loads in France, he certainly isn't going there as a development player.
He has loads to learn but he is a really balanced runner so is well suited to the French game...
Plus no good looking at the long term in such a violent career, one knock and it could be all over.
No his rise has come just as cardiff's coffers have been well and truly frozen. Thems the breaks though!

Anyone know why Faao Filise was not included with the leavers this afternoon, or is he now staying?

Be very surprise if he was staying.
Has gone of the boil for a couple of seasons now.
Not a scrummaging tight head is he...?

Neil to call Dan Parks@#$%&is a bit harsh, you don't amass the number of points he has over his time in rugby by being "crap".
He may not have been right for Cardiff but that is whoever signed him's fault not his, good luck to Dan in Galway safe to say they will win a hell of a lot more game next year

we won the Amlin in 2010 and have gone down hill since, through lack of investment and poor decisions made by the board.Compare this to the team we beat Toulon, no standing still there,
A Sheridan, G Jenkins, N Kennedy,C Masoe, F Michalak,N Durand,M Mermoz,D Armitage all signed for next season. Most of their home games played in the 15000 capacity stadium , big matches moved to the Veladrome.
Directors take note.

Don't think I would want the blues run like a fantasy team on a playstation game. There is huge difference between investment and taking the pi55, and for all his 130 million what have have they won in the last 5 years again?

Treats them like a fantasty team too. Buys them and drops them when the team is not successful. I would really fear for Cuthbert if he signed for Toulon as he won't get the development he needs. If he doesn't instantly hit the mark the owner will drop him and buy another player. At this stage in his development it could ruin his career.

Please don't pretend you wouldn't want a billionaire investing in the Blues ask any of the football fans whose teams have been bought would they prefer rich or poor, it's a no brainer. I know what i would prefer and imagine what it's like for for Toulon fans from D2, to one of France's top teams in 6 years.
We can only dream as we will be going nowhere for years and years thanks to poor decision making over the last few years,

Your right it could be down to poor decision making, or even it could be because the board have never and will never have 130 million spare cash

For all the ridiculous amounts of money spent in French rugby they still have no team in the HC final

Whilst I accept poor decision making has been an issue and the stadium move has been a financial disaster, the simple fact is that none of the regions in Wales will be able to compete wih the money that french clubs are throwing around - And nor would Cardiff Blues if they had remained at CAP - But is it sustainable in France or will their bubble burst soon ?

A £3.5m salary cap is probably at least 1-2m less than presently being spent and if a player like Cutbert can (allegedly) command 10% of this on his own in France then no Welsh Region is likely to stump this up to keep him. I imagne he is being advised by a greedy agent, but you can't blame him fo following the cash.

So the Blues have to cut their cloth according to their means and hence the exodus that we see. Only time will tell what the short to medium term will look like, but it probbly isn't going to be pretty and that may well self perpetuate the further problems.

I will be buying a season ticket for next season and will contnue to support whether games are at CAP or CCS,but I won't tell anyone else what t do as is up to them.
