And what good did experience do us today when we were falling to pieces?
Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish, rubbish, rubbish.
65% territory and 65% possession in the 1st half. Why weren't we 25 points up at the break? Because Mr. Mediocre declined to attack ANYTHING at all. Gommarsall may have been 1000 times worse, but the clock has surely run out on Wilkinson's turgid England.
I don't, I never have. He's fantastic in a few key areas, and for about a year his whole game was excellent. As I've said before he was an excellent rugby player, but never an excellent 10. Would have taken Larkham any day of the week (as a 10). He's also in my opinion not really stood out in the big games, eg World Cup's and Lions tours. Though I should rewatch the WC final 03, as maybe he was outstanding. I'm sure to get lambasted for that comment, but nevermind. I just remember him going for drop goals. His world rating has gone from overblown media obsession. If the media keep telling everyone a player is basically faultless then they eventually start to believe it.
Before the big disagreement. I'm not suggesting he wasn't a very good player, but he was NEVER the best player in the world, or for that matter in England. Hill, Back, Johnson were all better imho, just they didn't play in such a crucial position.
Plus Rarua is a kiwi, and expects more from a 10. The English love dull kicking machines for some reason.
