Following taken from Plymouth forum.

Albion on SKY HD!
PLYMOUTH ALBION'S RFU Championship Promotion Play-Off match against Cornish Pirates at Brickfields Recreation Ground will be shown live on Sky Sports HD on Friday, April 16 (7.45pm).

The West Country derby is a must see clash for rugby supporters as the battle to win promotion to the Guinness Premiership hots up in this Round 5 clash.

Sky Sports HD will also show a Promotion Play-Off semi final on the weekend of May 8 and both legs of the Promotion Play-Off final on May 19 and 26.

RFU Tournament and Competitions Director Terry Burwell said: "The live broadcast of this match is further testament to Sky Sports commitment to rugby as part of the Rugby Football Union's five year agreement (2010-2015) with them to broadcast England international, LV= Cup (Anglo-Welsh) and British & Irish Cup rugby. Plymouth Albion against Cornish Pirates will be a gripping encounter with plenty to play for."

Martin Turner, Sky Sports Rugby Union Executive Producer, added: "We showed one of the best domestic games of the season when we broadcast Bristol against Coventry and we are looking forward to another great Friday night of Championship rugby. They don't come much bigger than a Devon against Cornwall club derby, especially with promotion at stake."

agree!
i'm thinking how late the game will go when my last bus is 1030 - let alone those that have to travel further, it's not the getting there - it's the getting home bit

At a guess, the game should be finished around 9.30 or before, then we don't know if there will be any hold ups such as injuries/ late kick offs.

We got to Bristol and back (1.30am) so we can do Plymouth can't we? If enough people want to go from Cornwall we can get a coach up, Sancreed's a great organizer and I'll give him help if he needs it.
Record the SKY broadcast then relive the win in peace on Saturday.

Tony
My thinking was, as this is an open trip, not PG, you should easly fill a coach from that end. If you dont think that is the case, then I am more than happy to leave it to you.

But maybe the club are looking to run some transport. Over to you Rudi.

I have spoken to Coach company this morning and will get some detail up on here as soon as I can tomorrow but the coach companys initial view was stick to A30 otherwise its an earlier departure which would maybe stop people coming due to work commitments on the Friday. Starting at Westholme Pz at 4.00pm, Hayle RFC,Camborne Church,Truro coach park,St Austell Asda then Plymouth arriving there at 6.45 giving everyone an hour before to have a few beers.
Just to give me some ideas can we start a list of names on here and include previous names to yours.

Bleddy Friday night games! I had to miss brizzel, because I couldn't get away from work early for a dash down the M4.

Oh well, on the positive side, it's great exposure for the Championship and of course both the Pirates and Albion. I will try and book the day off and maybe stay overnight in Plymouth. Please can anyone help and advise with hotels near Brickfields?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming work doesn't get in way as it did this Friday, I'm thinking Suz n Me would appreciate a pick up at Camborne Church.

I think you chaps will see it far better on Sky and save money. Fantastic angles, replays, commentary and pre-match.

Don't worry - we'll do the shouting for the Broadcaste and give it "atmosphere".

Question for Dotcom :

Will the presence of SKY television cameras mean that Pirates TV will not be bbale to cover the game at the Brickfields ?

C'mon you Pirates !!!!

I'm coming down from Newton Abbot, 45 min drive and quicker by train. Still this appears to be pandering to comercial TV again instead of putting the fans, home or away, into any consideration whatsoever.

The Albion offy site says that because of the filming the game will be pushed back a day. No doubt so that SKY don't miss the footy.

Pirates TV wont be there as SKY TV takes precedence-part of the agreement with the RFU

C.J.S,Maybe by fretting, people are just showing how much they care about following the Pirates !! that they want to make it to the game, but have commitments on a Friday, like work, kids to look after etc, etc, etc.I for one would not have been able to make the game,if not for the kind actions of a collegue at work who is willing to do my night-shift for me,this promises to be one hell of a game, and im sure as many Pirate fans will be there as possible and, make as much noise as possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yahooooooooooooo!!

I guess the Sky coverage will still be on at Westholme though won't it?

I'm going up to Brickfields anyway, but just clarifying for those who can't get up there.

The only way it can be shown at Westholme is if they are licensed to show sky sports, otherwise you can find a tame pub who may show it like the Admiral Benbow, ( again assuming they are licensed to show it)

I understand all of that, same for anyone, just the modern day issues of top level sport isnt it?

My other love is Bristol Rovers, who were at Exeter last Wednesday night. I couldnt make it, but its just one of those things - they cant amend a kick off time or date to suit me can they?

I've heard that this fixture is the main reason that the Tamar toll bridge fees have gone up recently by 50% - simply to try and keep us out of England! Well, it won't work!

Not 100% good news, but First Great Western see the play offs as major events.

The Group save Offer 3/4 for the price of two is suspended
for travel to Camborne, Plymouth & Digby Sowton (Exeter)
for all the play off dates.

So the railway company don't see it as an opportunity to encourage more people to use the service - just make it more expensive and put people off.

I have an idea to get around the group save ban, but I'd best not post it on a public forum, just incase anyone from FGW reads this board! (Sm109)

BTW, thanks to BBB for the hotel info - I'll check it out.
