Chris Rowland given the right conditioning could be awesome, I understand he was talking to the Pirates. One you have missed out on, obviously prefers prawn sandwiches to pastys.

1spy, what do you mean? Speaking to Chris, he was flattered to be linked with the Pirates, however Esher must have come up with a better offer. Try and find your sense of humour.

Taken from the Nat forum another signing for Nottingham.

Fly half James Arlidge will join Nottingham from the Newport Gwent Dragons next season after signing a one-year deal today.

The 30-year old Kiwi moved to the Dragons in 2008 after a spell in Japan where he earned 14 caps for the national team.

Moseley fly half Tristan Roberts, who last season was the Championship's leading points scorer in the "regular season" with 236 points, has signed for Doncaster Knights.

Doncaster Knights regret that Michael Cusack has declined the offer of a new contract with them and he has told Lynn Howells that he intends to sign for London Welsh

Bristols Lee Robinson has signed and is off to Leicester

Henson has also been linked with a move to sale apparently he's gone to south africa for a month with some mates to watch the world cup(if you believe the press) so he won't be getting much pre-season training done.

Luke Arscott is a very good player but I would hope for the Exeter fans that he is signed as a back up because they are going to have to sign much better players than him if they want to stay in the premiership imo.

Esher:
"Anyone know what sort of attendances did they get last season?"
Never many there when we've been in previous seasons - but very wealthy area and seems to be plenty of money about. I've always thought Esher were a bit of a sleeping giant, but they seem to struggle to stay in the second tier.

Some things I remember about Esher..
1 They dont play in Esher, but Hersham RFC doesnt sound as good
2 Only ground Ive been to with a mobile pasta van...
3 Once got served by a barman that on close inspection turned out to be Peter Winterbottom.
4 Also spotted behind the bar a certain Mr John Inverdale.

Nice club,good bunch of people.

Amusing PA iirc.

And the only league ground I've been too where there have been officers of the law in attendance. Two young constables whose only stirring I witnessed was when Tim Cowley creamed one of the home team.(Sm6)

I saw Peter Winterbottom there, too - a bit like a religious vision! He was just the greatest player of all time.
Inverdale was still playing for Esher 3rds until recently - got his face rearranged in one game I seem to remember.

In the local papers today it says Sam Hocking is leaving Lanson to join Plymouth Albion. He says he wants to have a go in the Championship. Acording to 1 supporter on the Lanson forum, Sam Hocking thinks that Lanson are quite a few years away from promotion and also Hocking was interested in joining Pirates but they did not think he would be good enough at this level for us. But Albion are willing to give him a chance.

To be fair, when you look at our back row and Albions back row, neither them taking him nor us turning him away is surprising!

I'm sure his Dad will be pleased as if I am not mistaken he captained the Albion (which is probably why he called his pub in liskeard that name).

Only time will tell whether he will make it in the championship. My feeling is that he will definitely be up to the task at the lower end of the table clubs but would have to improve quite a bit to be, for example, Pirates standard or above.

That said, with Dawe training him he probably will come on leaps and bounds so only time will tell.

It is a massive step up and we have in the past given players the opportunity in the past from local clubs more recently Sam Heard,Luke Collins but despite promising starts they were released.
Albion have had their financial problems and this will no doubt impact on their recruitment BUT Sam will be well coached by Mr Dawe and hopefully get his chance so good luck to him.
