Second half to commence and we have the slope to contend with as well. Damage limitation required in second half and start to get points soon and keep them out.Three quickly converted trys and a drop goal in the dying seconds to us and 4 points in the bag.

Blues come again and Sir says enough of this and the game comes to a end. So sorry for the traveling supporters and I have a long shift to come tonight.
Hmmmmmmmm......like Wigston, I listened to Dick & Steve's commentary, which didn't paint the prettiest of pictures it has to be said. Going to be interesting to see if Sterlo' tries to gloss over the 1st half performance especially when he speaks in the next 10mins or so.
The strangest comment I've heard today is that apparently we've not played our 1st choice team all season, which taking today's result and performance aside, to me is totally baffling if indeed it's true.
There seems to be a lack of continuity in team selection which may be the reason why results have been so patchy this season. Apart from a few select players the rest seem to get a run of two or three games at best.
Dont panic, as CS sais 3 defensive errors led to 3 trys in the first half, very difficult to get back into the game then.
Should have maybe crossed for a couple more trys ourselves in the second half, work needed but we are still up there and this season is anyones.
Back to the W's next week.
"There seems to be a lack of continuity in team selection"
CS has said over and over again that we are operating a rotation policy. Like it or not, that's the way he sees it. He said in his interview today that we have depth in the squad and the play off 22 will be clearer as we reach the end of stage one. Today's team was pretty different to what most would see as our first choice selection. The first half defensive errors meant we were pretty much out of it by half time - but we competed well second half and at least we didn't get hammered by 50, which could have happened.
There seems to be a lack of flair/penetration in the backs - I think our hopes of winning this competition depend on whether JB is fit for the play-offs.
I reckon we'll see a big performance from the boys next weekend.
Worrying defensive lapses allowed Bedford to score, very similar to the game at home, fair play to Bedford who were clearly the better side.
We have a huge amount of work to do and defensively we seem to be weak around the 10-12 channel at present,we really need to start stepping it up and produce a more commanding performances before we get to the play offs.
I agree with Stalwart's comments about the backs for certain. Think back to the playoffs last season and how much of a difference in class our backs looked compared to our opponents, even in the Final when we looked to open things up at every opportunity. Rightly or wrongly it seems that JB's the key to orchestrating the backs play.
We've got plenty of bashers at the moment, but not creating too many chances. Still, tomorrow is another day and all that, and we'll see what team is selected and the reaction that produces at home next Sunday. Chin up folks!!
Didn't see the match due comments suggest similar failings up the middle of the park, suppose the coaches will have to keeping grinding away and hope that by the play offs we'll become competent at tackling. Hopefully JB will be back by then too to provide some excitement. Funny last season I used to pray for dry weather so we play a running game, now I'm hoping for a quagmire against Notts so that a. we can use the pack and b. the opposition won't be able to at us at pace.
I dont see anything has changed from what the coach`s told us at the start of this campaign. this is a two part season and we will get to the business end when the play offs start.
We are still in a good position to finish in the top 4 and with a chance to kick on from there. Like everyone else, there are a couple of injuries that worry me, but my money is still with us doing the double.
very frustrating sitting in the stand with Bert, with JB in the row behind, no doubt feeling as bad as the rest of us with the first half backs performance we saw.
The general consensus now with all the supporters, experts and non-experts, is that the back line is pretty powder puff when it comes to defending. Mind you, Blues fans were surprised at how their pack stood up to ours.
Bedford have always had good backs, but to see two of their tries as carbon copies of each other doesn't exactly show nous on our part.
We left some very happy smiley faces at Goldington Road--and they don't even have pretensions to go up!
The playoffs are the time to lay out all your cards..! Show your hand at this stage and there is nothing left to play with. Tactically sound last year i have no doubt that C.S. tried combinations and player rotation to test the opposition lines, he will have got valuable data from this game, same as a win would of, faith boys, have some faith.
Not to worried at this stage, but what surprised me was that 8 or 9 days ago i watched Bristol play straight down the middle of the park and Bedford had no answer to it.Yes they are tidy in the backs and have a few forwards who have been around a bit.Thought we might have smashed them up front just as Bristol did.
That's what I was hoping for too, but at the rsik of opprobrium I would suggest we fielded our second choice locks and against an experienced set of forwards like Bedford's, couldn't achieve the level of dominance we needed.
Re the backs, can't comment on yesterday but Ceiron Thomas hasn't looked fit to me all season and , coupled with the lack of a settled centre pairing, we're not up to it at the moment.
Defensively I suggest we've missed Steve Winn in midfield.
Saw this comment from a Bedford fan on the rolling-maul forum:-
"Again, thought the referee did quite well on what I saw (although a fair amount of the action was at the other end of the ground). For example, I think he gave Bedford a "last warning before a card" but Bedford had no more penalties for 16 minutes and no card followed. Which is how I believe "last warnings" should be done. A period of grace.
As for the score, now this may sound daft but... I felt we deserved to win by as much, but I also felt that the score didnt do justice for the work Pirates put in and pressure they put on our squad. Some last minute defending kept their score down.
Much better performance all round by Bedford over the Bristol match. Held on to most passes, good defence, scrum worked well, work in the loose was improved.
Pirates again worked well had some great running lines, also worked hard in the loose, and played some very good rugby.
Both sides played some very entertaining rugby. I really enjoyed my day."
Nobody plays 100% all the time every one has off days and i dont think it is fair to be writing people off at this stage and in my opinion CT is a good player i dont think any individual should be blamed for the loss most of the team need to hold their hands up. Looking forward to the next game
Just back from Bedford my 5th year of watching the Pirates play at Bedford. The first half display by the Pirates backs was very below par and the worst i have seen at Goldington Road.As a Bedfordshire lad i must say we made Bedford look good on the day after their poor performance against Bristol. But i will keep faith in Chris,Ian and Harvey that they will sort out the defence problems over the next few weeks.
Let us hope we get some further progress on the Stadium in 2012.I was interested to see that Bedfords new £100,000 floodlights were part funded by the supporters.
