Great all these places bring back old memories. In 1978 i did my offshore fire fighting training course in Dundee great place good seafood the beers a bit iffy. Oil and Gas City so the hotels will be pricey.
Excellent. Mrs and I spent a few years in Swansea in the 70s as students. Then both our sons went to Swansea Uni.
We had season tickets at Swansea Rugby for a couple of seasons and spent many good Saturdays at St Helens (the rugby and cricket ground on the sea front).
Although we play Dundee in October which is on their fixture list i am not sure we play Swansea. The RFU if you member do some strange things with the B&I Groupings, like last year we played Cross Keys and beat them then end up playing them again in the semi final. We will have to wait for the Pirates fixtures to be released to be sure.Their are flights to Edinburgh from Newquey and Dundee about 60 miles away.
You could be right Ispy if it is the same format as last season. However it has been expanded to eight groups of four teams. The Dundee website also gives the home grounds of the other three teams in their group so they think they will be playing the same teams, ie us, Swansea and Caernarfon away as well.
Obviously the draw has been made so no doubt it will be public knowledge as soon as the RFU release the full monty.
Looking at the Dundee website it looks that they have drawn all their three games at home against Pirates, Swansea and Caernarfon. Is this seasons competition going to be played on a home and away basis unlike last seasons set up. Does anyone know?
I think it is home and away in order to make up some of the fixtures potentially lost owing to the changes in the playoff system.
My memories of Dundee are less rose tinted, having run some leisure "venues" up there. Miserable weather , matched by the mood of the locals.
Could well win the prize for longest away trip, though.
British and irish cup for me is waste of time, would be better to increase the league by 2 or have a cup comp involving the prem league,at least then the gates would be better and not silly expensive trips to scot or ireland on days of the week when no travelling fans can make it!some games were played weekdays on the afternoon...not well thought out!
gaztaz, 'xacly'. Could be run on similar lines of the Fa Cup thus getting all the national leagues involved. the only drawback being an early exit from any cup run that way would mean revenue loss potentially. Also would the AP want to give away perhaps the Amblin Cup to make room for such a competition.
The B&I cup is being run on the same format as the Heineken cup and on the same weekends,so the pool matches will be home and away to make up for the reduction in fixtures because of the change in the play off matches.
