Rob's departure is in some ways not surprising but it's bleddy frustrating all the same.
A number of points to make here....
1. It seems that it is now "par for the course" that Championship players have a clause in their contracts that allow them to get away if a prem club want them. (That said,it might be a good idea to have a transfer window as in soccer which closes before pre-season training starts as movement of players at the last minute or during the season can make preparation for matches very difficult)
2. The stadium issue is bound to have made a difference here. ( Thank you Cllr. Furguson - may you get what you deserve at the next election !)
3. We are to some degree victims of our own success. High profile high quality televised Sky matches put our players in the "shop window". Our "sh*t is good sh*t and it attracts the attention of Prem clubs.
4. " Newlyn End" makes a good point. There is an argument to be made that players who come to the Mennaye leave, in many many cases, much better players then when they arrived. This should mean that we can attract " bright young things" with a career plan who can be "brought on". This may well sustain the club on the playing side until the stadium is sorted.
Hope this all makes sense
"May the road rise with you"
