A game this very afternoon - get out in fresh air and support the local boys. Always good entertainment.

Good win for the Ams 17-12. Nasty injury to Jamie Barrett early on. The game was delayed for over an hour while we waited for the ambulance. Best wishes to Jamie for a full recovery.
Earlier on the Pirates Colts had a good win against Helston.

Not overly surprised by London Cornish's draw today, Cowship, KCS Old Boys are always a very tough team to play, stuffed full of excellent players from Kings College who always do well in the Schools Competitions - particularly hard to beat on their ground in Motspur Park.
Anyway - as for the Ams - that is an outstanding win against an excellent Saltash side who are looking to get promoted back to Western Counties West at the first attempt.

The news about Jamie is not too good I'm afraid to say. Currently he is in Derriford Hospital where he has already been operated on as he has fractured the Tib and Fib in his left leg. He will be having further surgery later this week to have a metal rod inserted. He is likely to be there for up to a fortnight.
I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the players and committee of the AM's to say a massive thank you to Andrew Snell, Amy and Linda and to the Saltash physio (whose name I do not know unfortunately) who looked after Jamie whilst we were waiting for the ambulance. As Stalwart* said it was over an hour before it arrived and these lovely people never left Jamie alone for a second and when you consider that he was in shock for a lot of that time what they did was absolutely essential. The weather made things worse as it started drizzling as soon as the injury occurred, so his body temperature dropped very rapidly and I know they were all very cold, damp and stiff but their only concern was for Jamie
The players responded so well, they knew Jamie's injury was serious and they were absolutely determined to win for his sake and he has already said how delighted he is with the result.
Thank yo all for your best wishes which I will ensure he is made aware of

Thanks for the update, Paul. That is bad news - wish him well. It's going to be a long road, but hopefully he'll make a complete recovery and be back on the field at some stage.

Prg14's post, whilst describing a distressing and unfortunate injury, sums up what is great about this game.
Best of luck to Jamie for a full recovery.
