Student and Family discounts

The following was posted on the Rolling maul Forum and I agree with the poster. We need to encourage a younger demographic and this must be a way to do so.

"Having enjoyed a few visits to The Mennaye in the past I was toying with the idea of taking my 16 and 17 year old sons down in the next few weeks. From The Pirates website it appeared that despite both of my offspring being in full-time education I would have to pay the adult price for each of them as they don't attend Truro College. On calling the box office to confirm this I was told that discounts were available to other students if they attended a college in Cornwall.

We live in Devon and so no discounts apply but it seems to me that bearing in mind travel costs this is the wrong way around!"

My own club gives concessions to ALL full-time students so is The Pirates' policy unusual or the norm at level 2?

Totally agree there should be reductions for students outside of Cornwall, as well as in. I used to get the Truro College discount, which meant I could get in for a fiver, very reasonable. But when I went to university outside of Cornwall it was surprisnging that the club didn't provide student discounts.

I'm a mature student and have got reduced price student admission at pretty much any ground I visited in Britain on showing my student card. It's really surprising that Pirates don't do this.

Certainly something the club should address straight away. We need to get younger people in.
