On Saturday 18 November 2017, Pirates Amateurs will be playing against The Coldstream Guards at The Mennaye. The kick off time will be 2.30, admission £3.00 for Adults and free to Under 16's.

The match is to honour the memory of L/Cpl. Darren Hicks who made the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan in March 2010.
Darren was a Newlyn boy who played for Penzance & Newlyn Minis, Juniors and Colts before joining the Guards.
From then on he played for the Amateurs whenever his leave coincided with the rugby season, his last game being in a pre-season match against St. Just immediately before going to Afghanistan.
He was a very special person as anyone who had the privilege of knowing him would confirm.

People may remember that in June 2010, a match was played between the Am's and the Guards before a crowd of some 2000 when a certain Jack Nowell, making his debut as a senior player lined up for the Amateurs.

It is particularly appropriate that the match is to be played at this time of year when we remember all our brave Servicemen and women, and this coming Sunday players and officials of the Amateurs will lay a wreath, as they have done each year since November 2010.

Please come and support both teams and help us to pay tribute to not only Darren, but all those who serve to protect us.
All monies raised will be divided equally between The Amateurs and The Guards
