The Pirates have made a number of changes from last week for the trip to Bedford. Coach Alan Paver expects another tough game which will be more like a league match.

Bedfords International Fly Half Will Hooley and Ex England and Saints Scrum half Lee Dickson will need some watching. Then you have the famous " Slope" which is worth 7 points.Pirates need to be in top form to win.

Just about our strongest team - always tough to win at Goldington Road but the boys will give it their best shot that's for sure. Set piece will be vital as usual, but we have some real talent in the backs so should score a few tries.

Bedford 27(5 pts) Pirates 17
Despite scoring 3 tries in the last 10 minutes it sounded like a disapointing performance by the Pirates. We conceded 12 penalties and were out played in the scrum which allowed Bedford to dominate possession and territory.
We are certainly missing our 2 best props in Marlen Walker and Christian Judge.
We will need points from next weeks game against London Irish to ensure qualification for the 1/4 finals.

Just leaving GR now..... one of those days for 70 mins, nothing going right and on the wrong side of the ref. We really need to do something about the scrum.... the pens against us are killing us. The last 10 mins were bizarre - three lovely tries but Bedford had probably switched off by then .... they had been totally dominant against a disappointing Pirates side. Error strewn and inaccurate throughout it looked for a long while like we were going to be lucky to get 0......

As Mullion Pirate says we need to sort out the scrum. Looking at the tables it looks like we'll still qualify for the last eight even if we get nothing next week and Bedford beat Hartpury. We will be one of the best third placed team as in group three there are two teams way adrift of the top two.
Well done to the lads for sticking at it and getting some tries at the end - but if we are continually beaten at scrum time we are going to struggle. If we can sort that out I still think we can give Irish a fright next week.

Agree with Mullion. Don't be fooled by the scoreline - the Pirates were well beaten by a team which coughed up several chances and Buekeboom's not-too-clever one-handed slap down yellow car really hurt us.

We all love our 2 coaches but they have to front up and solve the problems of naive and avoidable penalties at the breakdown and sort out the set scrum and overthrown lineouts or a promising season is going to go a bit flat.

The 3 late tries speak well of our our pace and stamina but the result was long gone by then and Bedford had somehow switched off at 70 minutes.

Paves has to sort out the scrum problem.

He's no doubt more aware of that any of us - but he can't do miracles and we are struggling with injuries and missing Judge massively. If anyone can sort this, Paves can. If we can get some kind of parity against Irish we can give them a heck of a game, but if we are conceding penalties at every scrum it's nigh on impossible. We've seen in the game against them this season that we can more than match them in the backs, but if we concede penalties they will punish us.

Watching Saracens on BT and they reckon Judge may be off to Bath next season.

As well as scoring a try for Saracens. Kyle Moyle mentioned in TRP about the ring fencing again.

I have very little interest in this add-on Cup programme
Just looking forward to next year when the real action resumes, and to some good news about the stadium which will give us all a boost
Happy Christmas in the meantime!
